Did Whiskey Cavalier ever have a chance at a second season? Recently, ABC boss Karey Burke explained why the network briefly reconsidered the TV show’s cancellation, TVLine reports.
The drama series centers on FBI Agent Will Chase (Scott Foley), codename: “Whiskey Cavalier” and CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan), codename: “Fiery Tribune.” Although they start off as rivals, they’re soon assigned to a joint-agency task force to root out corruption and crime and save the world. The cast also includes Ana Ortiz, Tyler James Williams, Vir Das, and Josh Hopkins.
Earlier this year, ABC cancelled Whiskey Cavalier after one season only to reconsider the decision before ultimately canceling the series. Speaking to TVLine, ABC boss Karey Burke said the network considered bringing the show back because of an email written by executive producer Bill Lawrence:
He was just so deeply passionate about it. He put his heart and soul into it. And he just asked us to take one last look. And we really did.”
However, Burke said a second season of Whiskey Cavalier was just to difficult to justify given the show’s low ratings:
It was tough [to justify] financially [and] ratings-wise. We ultimately just decided to bet on the future.”

This was one of my favorite shows on TV! It was smart, funny and great locations. I was so sad when it was cancelled. I hope that Netflix or some other station picks it up. I always recorded it and watched it later. I’m wondering if that contributes to low ratings, if it’s not watched live at the moment. I can’t believe that this show got low ratings.
I think the reason many people did not watch was the name, “Whiskey Cavalier”.When I asked friends if they watched it — they said “it doesn’t sound good” and other remarks. I liked the show and am sorry to see it go.
My wife and I enjoyed the program. Yes, it was quirky but that’s what made it fun to watch. It also had moments of emotions about caring for one another, seems like we could have more of that today.

we Loved this show from the beginning. The characters had chemistry and loved the story line. We were hoping it would get picked up by another network.
Love Whiskey Cavalier ! Was just getting into the characters when ABC up and cancelled it. Why am I not surprised, after all they cancelled the Chew when it was a beloved show and replaced it with another talk show. I love the View but “the Strathan Vanity Show” is just dumb.
I don’t think ABC listens to their valuable viewers.
Whiskey Cavalier was one of the best new shows out there. I most definitely would watch season 2 and 10 more seasons as a matter a fact. It’s so stupid that ABC canceled the show after only 1 season, but that’s what they do. Why give anything a real chance to succeed, just cancel it. I’m sure they’ll keep all the stupid reality shows running for 10-15 years each, even though most of them should have been canceled after 1 episode. We loved this show! There have been shows that we’re going to be cancelled after half a season and they got revived for the remaining episodes. Now they have been on for years. Give it another chance.

ABC boss stated to TVline “A second season of whiskey cavalier was just too difficult to justify, given the show’s low ratings”.
The ONLY reason the show had low ratings is because they weren’t given a full threat run.
I firmly believe that if they get a second season, the ratings will skyrocket.
I have watched Whiskey Cavalier over 100 times and continue to watch it. It’s one my favorite shows out there, considering all the crazy tv you get these days. I would definitely watch a second season and I know at least 100 other people who also would without thinking twice.
