What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Freeform cable channel, Young & Hungry stars Emily Osment, Jonathan Sadowski, Aimee Carrero, Kym Whitley, and Rex Lee, with Bryan Safi recurring. The Freeform TV series features food blogger, Gabi Diamond (Osment), who becomes the personal chef of wealthy tech entrepreneur Josh Xander Kaminski (Sadowski). After they develop feelings for one another, the plot thickens. The fifth season kicks off with Gabi and Josh try to prove to everyone that they won’t let feelings get in the way of their new arrangement as “friends with benefits.”
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of Young & Hungry averaged a 0.17 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 352,000 viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 36% and down by 35%, respectively. Learn how Young & Hungry stacks up against the other Freeform TV shows.
As of February 6, 2018, Young & Hungry was cancelled and the finale aired July 25, 2018. A movie was supposedly in development but those plans were cancelled too. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
While Young & Hungry was originally given a season orders of 10 episodes, eventually, Freeform doubled the total order to 20. A couple of weeks before that, the cable channel decided not to move forward with the proposed spin-off. Were the two decisions related? Although the fourth season ratings saw a small increase over the previous year, will the sitcom continue to build its audience? The ratings are way down but Freeform has cancelled Baby Daddy so, that may mean the network will want to keep this show around for a sixth season. We’ll see. Please Renew for a season six and have Gabie and Josh get married already. Then continue the season with them being married.
OMG I need a season 6!!! Are they getting married?? I love this show.
Please please please bring us a season 6!!! I literally cried because there was no real ending to the show. I mean we were left with so many questions. Not knowing what Josh’s answer was is so devastating!!! We need to know!!! It can’t end like this!!!
I was wondering if y’all would ever consider making another season of young and hungry? It was a great show that really just needed a little more time so the story could have a happier ending. It saddened me not to see Josh an Gabby together an living out the life per say, an what a comical show. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
Please bring the show BACK! The show does not deserve to end this way! I am upset and sad. Premiering it on tv, while sites like Netflix and Hulu were peaking is probably the reasoning of the low ratings. I haven’t watched tv in years and did not hear of this show until it was added to Netflix. WE NEED a season 6! PRONTO!
You have so many fans from Freeform and now Netflix. The way season 5 ended was not the way to end the show. I know the main character, Gabby, just started a new show, but I still think a shortened season, a movie or heck even a written ending would be better than what fans got. We need closure!

You need to bring this back freeform. There are many shows that should be brought back but this one my far needs to come back. Not only is it a good comedy which is hard to find that any age will enjoy but because it makes you a part of there family. Bring the original cast back Andre them finish the seasons the writer had done. The ratings might get better because you made everyone wait. You can do it freeform bring it back so we can see what happens next.
