Brothers & Sisters: ABC Series Renewed for Season Five

Brothers & SistersThe alphabet network has renewed Sunday night drama Brothers & Sisters for a fifth season. As you may have heard, there are big changes in store for the TV show.

Brothers & Sisters revolves around the Walker family as they deal with their own personal dilemmas and run the family business, Ojai Foods. The ABC cast includes Calista Flockhart, Sally Field, Dave Annable, Emily VanCamp, Kerris Lilla Dorsey, Luke Grimes, Luke Macfarlane, Matthew Rhys, Maxwell Perry Cotton, Patricia Wettig, Rachel Griffiths, Rob Lowe, Ron Rifkin, and Balthazar Getty.

While the ratings this season are down from last year, the decrease isn’t dramatic (unlike most everything on the show). Last season, Brothers & Sisters averaged a 3.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.87 million viewers. So far, the ABC drama’s averaged a 3.0 in the demo and 9.23 million viewers.

The show’s now been renewed for a fifth season. No word on how many installments ABC will order but a full season of 22-24 episodes is expected.

However many episodes there are, they will likely be full of changes. Lowe is leaving the series later this season and Flockhart is supposedly going to be cutting back the number of episodes she’ll do. In addition, Gilles Marini, who plays the boyfriend of Sarah Walker (Griffiths), may become a series regular next season.

What do you think? Are you glad that Brothers & Sisters has been renewed? Do you think the cast changes will result in the show being cancelled or revitalized?

It is a very enjoyable family drama that I am very happy a 5th season will come. So many loose ends that need to be tied. Sad that Robert is leaving. Still I am sure the writers will have new revived drama to keep us waiting in vein

I love the show and as many others hate to see Robert go. He gave balance to all the craziness in the Walker family. This show is like family to me and I think the cast and producers did an excellent job with making the viewer apart of the family.

I love this show. The writing touches on so many great subjects. It is certainly disappointing that Rob Lowe’s character has died and that there is talk of Calista Flockart leaving as well as the political story line they bring to this drama is excellent. That being said I am sure the writers will continue to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with more jaw dropping family drama.

Really am addicted to the show. I was stuck to my seat during the final scenes in the series finale. I was surprised to discover that I was actually so nervous incase anything had happened to nora, played by sally field. of course their not gonna write her off since shes the heart of the show, but I really have become attached to her loveable yet sometimes infuriating character. Yes sometimes the show can be unreal but family is the true heart of us all, and the show captures that. whether you relate to the perfectness of what they have, or whether you relate to the upheavel and dysfuntion of their family life, or indeed both, there’s certainly something in there for everyone. and for me, who’s usually not too bothered with much on the box, this show has me hooked!!

I enjoy this program so much, when a television show makes you feel part of the family, they have done there job and done it well. When ever an actor leaves that you have grown to admire it is sad. But just as it is in our normal lives……we must go on. Sally Field will pull the Walkers together…………..after along week and being so far away from my own family this show is what I truly look forward to. Thank you to the cast of Brother and Sisters and the writers,………..you have stolen my heart and made me long for my family……all the best Randy Adams,..Panama City Beach Florida

I liked this show at first but it got boring very quickly. It just isn’t a sustainable idea, too much focus on the affair in the first season which was interesting, but after that there was nothing to emotionally invest in. The acting is good and it’s well done. It’s just I know a hundred families that are a million times more interesting than this one.

I just found out about this show a week ago and I can’t stop raving about how amazing it is. Although it does have a soapy feel to it the fact that the dramatic tension isn’t dragged out to ridiculous heights makes me very comfortable watching it. I’ve been watching it for three day straight and I just got through watching the fourth season season finale episode. I can’t wait for the fifth season.

i only started to watch brothers and sisters recently, and i cant believe i only found it now its a brilliant program,ya its dramatic and unreal, but mixed in with great acting, brilliant comic writing, a lovable cast, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, any second something new can happen and thats what i love, its far from boring. hope they keep making it till they can.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE SHOW. VERY UPSET ABOUT ROBERT IN THE SEASON FINALE AND THAT HE WON’T BE RETURNING. I LIKE HIM AS AN ACTOR AND THE CHARACTER HE PLAYS, KIND OF A STRAIGHT MAN IN A CAST OF HUMOROUS CHARACTERS. SO VERY GLAD THAT GILLES WILL BE A REGULAR. HE IS GREAT!

I have a love/hate relationship with the show. I enjoy the cast and the show in general. However, the story line is sooooooooooooo dramatic and so unreal. I am, however, glad it has been renewed and I know that I Wednesdays I can always get a laugh and back to real folks via THE MIDDLE and MODERN FAMILY.
I know Rob Lowe is leaving and I’m sure that will work out with the Walker family and they’ll find another skazillion dollars and live merrily on their way.
