Say hello to Charlie … again. The Los Angeles Times reports Elizabeth Banks is directing a film reboot of the crime-fighting franchise.
The original Charlie’s Angels TV show ran on ABC between 1976 and 1981. It starred Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, and Kate Jackson.
Banks recently branched out into directing with Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015. She’s previously acted in Wet Hot American Summer, The Hunger Games, and 30 Rock.
Charlie’s Angels was, of course, adapted for the movies in 2000 with Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore starring in the lead roles. They returned in 2003 for the sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.
A release date for the new Charlie’s Angels film has not been announced.
What do you think? Did you watch the Charlie’s Angels TV show? Will you watch another film version?
Could it get any worse than the TV reboot back in the Fall of 2011 or the previous two films that starred Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu?
