We have the first TV show cancellation of the 2014-15 season and Manhattan Love Story is the “winner” of the title. ABC has cancelled the new sitcom after four episodes.
Manhattan Love Story follows the members of an extended family from New York City as they navigate the pitfalls of their various relationships. Fortunately, only the audience is privy to their inner thoughts. The castmembers include Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman, Nicolas Wright, Jade Catta-Preta, Chloe Wepper, and Kurt Fuller.
The sitcom debuted on September 30th to a mediocre 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.7 million viewers. It wasn’t a very good start but the sitcom had no stars, little lead-in support, and was airing opposite two of the top-rated shows on television — The Voice and NCIS.

Unfortunately, the competition got even tougher in later weeks — and the ratings showed it. Love Story lost 40% of its audience in the demo in week two, held steady in week three and then dropped another 22% this week, falling to an unacceptable 0.7 in the demo and 3.3 million viewers.
Last week, ABC ordered some additional scripts for both Love Story and Selfie, an indication that they were’s ready to throw in the towel just yet. It seems that this week’s ratings were just too low.
The network has pulled the series from the schedule, effective immediately. Next week, a Halloween special will fill the 8pm hour. After that, pairs of episodes of companion series Selfie will fill the hour. That series isn’t doing much better and is almost sure to be cancelled as well.
ABC had ordered 13 episodes of Manhattan Love Story. It’s unclear how many were actually produced or if/when the network will release those that have been shot.

still pissed this was cancelled! I am watching on abc.com and with all the CRAP that is still airing, this show was sooooo refreshing! I absolutely LOVED watching them and their budding relationship! Please please please reconsider again and bring this BACK!

I cannot believe you cancelled it! I’m not living U.S. but me, my friends , sisters…everybody like this tv show. Believe me , it was better than gossip girl or etc!!!

I cannot believe manhattan love story was cancelled…did this really happen? Yep, and how flippin depressing. This show actually made sense…the characters connected and made you feel so intrigued. The chemistry between the characters was adorable…that’s right, asorable. The story felt so relatable and real. It made you laugh and say to yourself “yeah I’ve been that ridiculous once”. The way they narrated it was comical and refreshing…to be inside a characters thoughts is like being In the moment..in the tv screen right along with them. Hey, Linda Myers… don’t be dissing the Goldbergs. It’s a deliberately over-the-top show and the characters are SUPPOSED to over-act. It’s all about the childhood memories of the main characters family and that’s how he REMEMBERED them, not how they necessarily WERE. The point was lost on Linda Myers, MA ed…. and I’ll see your MA and raise you a JD.
This show was great! Its really funny. I watched the unaired episodes online and they were hilarious!! It aired at the same time as the voice and NCIS of course it got cancelled. I’m sure it’ll attract more viewers if they changed the time slot of the show.

And I cannot believe you cancelled it!!! This show is delightful-so honest—Only yesterday was I made aware of the show and watched all episodes. Love the characters-the actors chosen are perfect! Actually no one I know has heard of it even my daughter who is a TV producer in LA. It has the same quality as my favorites – the Middle and Modern Family.
