With Nashville‘s fifth season in production for CMT, the country music drama has put out an open casting call for a new male character, Clay. They’re looking for an African American actor between the ages of 21 and 26 to fill the role
Clay is described as, “a creative, self-aware, highly motivated young man who suffers intense mood swings, but is nonetheless charming and outgoing.” Check out the casting notice, after the jump.

CMT’s Nashville is now casting speaking roles for their new season. Fincannon & Associates is holding an open casting call for the role of “Clay”. Filming will take place in Nashville, Tennessee and casting directors are will be holding an open casting call to the public on Saturday, September 10th, 10AM – 4PM CT.

Free ParkingCasting directors are casting the role of “CLAY” – a young African American musician in his mid-twenties who is destined for great things. He is a creative, self-aware, highly motivated young man who suffers intense mood swings, but is nonetheless charming and outgoing. His musical style is eclectic, with modern elements but also nods to roots Black music, Bluegrass, and even classic Country.
Talents should be between 21 to 26 years old, have a great singing voice and play either guitar or keyboard.
Los Angeles based casting director Jeanie Bacharach and Atlanta based casting director Mark Fincannon will be in attendance at the open casting call.
EW reports, Clay will, “…play an important role in season 5 and that new showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick are scripting Nashville’s storylines toward a return to the show’s musical roots.”
