The bar is closed for Sulivan & Son as TBS and TNT continue to clean house. TBS has cancelled the sitcom after three seasons.
Sullivan & Son revolves around a corporate lawyer (Steve Byrne) who quits his job and wants to take over the family bar in Pittsburgh. The rest of the cast includes Christine Ebersole, Brian Doyle-Murray, Jodi Long, Valerie Azlynn, Vivian Bang, Owen Benjamin, Roy Wood Jr., Ahmed Ahmed, and Dan Lauria.
The comedy debuted in July 2012 to 2.5 million viewers with a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The audience fell in later weeks but the first season still averaged a healthy 2.2 million with a 0.9 rating.
Season two fell slightly to 1.99 million and a 0.8 in the demo. The third season, which finished airing on September 9th of this year, dropped more than 20% to 1.58 million and a 0.6 demo rating.
Sullivan & Son joins several other shows on the cancellation heap as TBS and TNT overhaul their programming. Men at Work was cancelled in May and Cougar Town will start its final season on January 6th.
Ground Floor, which will return for its second season on December 9th, is the cable channel’s only other returning sitcom. It will join new shows like Buzzy’s, Angie Tribeca, and Your Family Or Mine.
Sister channel TNT has also been purging existing shows and has cancelled Dallas, Franklin & Bash, and Perception.
What do you think? Did you like the Sullivan & Son sitcom? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season instead?
This show was good n funny , the producers were dummies for cancelling it I’d say !!!! to the producers !!
The producers helped the show commit suicide because they kept changing the schedule. I thought the show had possibilities if handled properly. I enjoyed the cast and wondered where it went.
Tbs morons…mishandled that one bad. Clueless idiots..
Was a good show yet could not make it past 3 seasons. The shows have been good but obviously the commitment to produce, promote and support the show(s) have been seriously mishandled. Thanks TBS for your great work. lol
I really liked this show I wish they didn’t cancel the show hopefully they may bring it back
no way best show on tv it was great please bring it back this is a big mistake
Another comedy I didn’t find funny.
I’ve been waiting to read this article for a long time. Good riddance.
Want it back
i’m glad they canceled this dumb show, but I always wished they picked up the Match Game pilot that had been rumored a few years ago… #sadbuttrue
