NBC had a great fall season thanks to The Voice and the show’s blockbuster ratings. Will viewers return for the spring cycle or was the series’ success just a fad?
Airing twice a week, the coaches on The Voice this time around are Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Usher. The advisors are Hillary Scott, Sheryl Crow, Pharrell Williams and Joel Madden while Carson Daly returns as the host.
These are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, typically the best way to tell if The Voice is going to be cancelled or renewed for another season. In this case, the show’s already been renewed for a fall cycle.

It was a very positive start to the new cycle of The Voice. Compared to last fall’s launch, NBC was up by 14% in the demo (vs a 4.2 rating) and up by 11% in viewership (vs 12.28 million). Unless Tuesday’s edition performs even better, this episode will have the best network demo of the week.
Reference point: Last spring’s edition of The Voice (which typically ran once a week) averaged a 5.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.14 million total viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
