Wednesday, November 7, 2012 ratings — New episodes: The Middle, The Neighbors, Modern Family, Suburgatory, Nashville, Arrow, Supernatural, The X Factor, The Voice, Chicago Fire, Survivor, Criminal Minds, and CSI
On ABC, The Middle returned to a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.1 million total viewers. Compared to the last original episode, this was up by 8% in the demo. The Neighbors then garnered a 2.1 rating (up 11%) with 6.9 million viewers.
Modern Family won the night in both the demo and viewership with a 4.7 rating (+12% week-to-week) with 12.3 million. Suburgatory saw a nice boost as well, garnering a 2.9 rating (+21%) with 7.6 million. Nashville finished the night with a 2.0 rating (+11%) and 6.0 million.
On NBC, a special Wednesday edition of The Voice drew a 3.7 rating with 10.4 million viewers. Compared to last Tuesday’s edition, that was down by 20% in the demo. Either regular viewers didn’t realize that it was on last night or their Wednesday night viewing schedule is securely filled. Either way, Chicago Fire clearly benefited by the strong lead-in, jumping 44% in the demo to a 2.3 rating with 7.1 million.
On CBS, Survivor drew a 2.7 rating (+8% week-to-week) with 7.0 million viewers and Criminal Minds attracted a 3.0 rating (+3%) with 12.0 million. CSI capped the night with a 2.3 rating (down 4%, tied with Chicago Fire) and 10.3 million.
On FOX, The X Factor fell 4% in the demo to a 2.6 rating with 7.0 million viewers. That’s not too much of a loss considering that it was competing with The Voice on NBC.
And on The CW, Arrow attracted a 1.3 rating (+30%) with 3.7 million, matching its strong premiere numbers. Supernatural followed with a 1.0 rating (up 20%) and 2.3 million total viewers.
What do you think? Do you think the CW shows will maintain these levels? Do you think NBC should consider moving Chicago Fire behind The Voice permanently — on Monday or Tuesday night? What were you watching last night?

I love Nashville and Arrow!
I am a relatively new (middle of last season) fan of Supernatural. I never watched it before then because I couldn’t imagine liking something that had to do with the “Supernatural”. Since then I have watched all of the past seasons and I love it. The two lead characters are brothers in the show and to me it is more about the family relationship fighting evil than I thought it would be. Hopefully there are more late comers like myself to this show and it gets picked up again next season (and beyond).
