Denis Leary is back! FOX just announced the Rescue Me star has joined their new TV show, A Moody Christmas.
The comedy series will follow the Moodys, “a tight-knit, but slightly dysfunctional, family of five, all of whom return home to Chicago for the holidays, hiding secrets from each other – as if the holidays weren’t stressful enough!”
On A Moody Christmas, Leary will be playing the patriarch of the Moodys, Sean Sr. The series is set to debut on FOX this fall.

Event Series to Debut This December on FOX
Emmy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated actor and comedian Denis Leary (“Rescue Me,” “Animal Kingdom”) will star in FOX’s upcoming limited series, A MOODY CHRISTMAS, scheduled to air this December on FOX.
In the single-camera, holiday-themed event comedy, Leary will play SEAN SR., the beloved patriarch of the Moodys, a tight-knit, but slightly dysfunctional, family of five, all of whom return home to Chicago for the holidays, hiding secrets from each other – as if the holidays weren’t stressful enough!
“We have always wanted to work with Denis, whose signature gruffness, sarcasm and, dare I say it, heart, make him the perfect fit for this role,” noted Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, FOX Entertainment. “The Moody family nails that indescribable mix of love, loyalty and absolute chaos, and we can’t wait to introduce our viewers to them all this holiday season.”
A six-episode event series, A MOODY CHRISTMAS is adapted from the Australian series of the same name. The series centers on the Moodys, including Sean Sr. (Leary), his wife, their three grown children and an assorted mix of extended family members who gather for the holidays, with each packing his/her own eccentricities and complications.
Denis Leary is a five-time loser at the Emmy Awards. And the Golden Globes. He hopes to one day also lose an Oscar, a Grammy and a Tony. In his long and storied entertainment career, Leary has also never won The Stanley Cup, The Nobel Peace Prize or an argument with his wife. He looks forward to playing Kellyanne Conway in the President Trump biopic.
From CBS Television Studios and FOX Entertainment, A MOODY CHRISTMAS is written and executive-produced by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Tad Quill. Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Trent O’Donnell, Phil Lloyd and Jason Burrows also serve as executive producers. The event series is based on the Jungleboys Entertainment Pty Limited and Australian Broadcasting Corporation series.”

I loved Dennis in Rescue Me. This new series sounds like it will be funny. Only six episodes though, that’s disappointing. I wish it was a full season for this series. Can’t wait for it to start.
I absolutely love Denis Leary. Loved Rescue Me, The Job, read his book and he is alongside Billy Connolly one of my favourite stand up comedians. His wit, humour, and sheer against the grain attitude on stage cannot wait for this (although I am on the other side of the pond).

Love Denis Leary, but this doesn’t sound that great of a “series”, and his last show “Sexanddrugsandrockandroll” was God-awful. He should just reboot Rescue Me, which was great.
