Do you remember All Creatures Great and Small? Variety reports the UK TV show is being rebooting for PBS Masterpiece.
Based on the books by James Herriot, the original series followed “country veterinarians in 1930s rural England.” The cast included Christopher Timothy, Robert Hardy, Peter Davison, and Carol Drinkwater. The show ran on the BBC from 1978 to 1990.
The reboot of All Creatures Great and Small comes from Wolf Hall producers Playground and is set to begin filming in 2020. The series will air on Channel 5 in the UK and on PBS Masterpiece in the U.S.
From Playground CEO Colin Callender:
“At a time when the country feels more divided than ever, Herriot’s glorious books remind us how to connect and belong again. The series will embrace the fun and the nostalgia of revisiting the England of the past, while celebrating Herriot’s values that, despite all our current upheaval, still underpin British life today.”
What do you think? Have you seen All Creatures Great and Small? Will you check out the reboot?
Enjoyed seasons one and two. Hope there will be a season three
I love all Creatures Great and Small!
It is brilliantly done. Please renew this wonderful series
Yes Please! Brilliant!!
I remember this show and liked it so much. No positive but I think I recall watching this on A & E back in the 80’s. I enjoyed it so much. I do hope you will return it to PBS.
I love this series I purchased all of the sesons on discs through Amazon. Only problem is no captioning so I miss some of the dialog. My husband and I read all the books including A Memoir of My Father by Jim Wright. We will watch every episode if rebooted!
I will watch it. It is a great series. Read all the books also.
I really loved this show and so happy that it’s being rebooted!
Can’t wait. If I could only read one authors books it would be James Herriot. I wonder what channel it would be on in America.
It is going to air on PBS Masterpiece, so hopefully your local PBS station will carry it 🙂
So happy to hear this show has a chance of a reboot. We so loved it in the 70’s and 80’s.
I never saw the original series, but loved all the books, looking forward to the reboot.
