ABC has cancelled John Ridley’s critically acclaimed, yet low-rated American Crime TV show. There will be no fourth season. Fans largely expected American Crime would be cancelled rather than renewed. The third season averaged a 0.39 rating in the 18 to 49 year old demographic and 1.92 million viewers. Acclaim is one thing, but ad-buys are king.
A crime drama anthology, the American Crime season three cast includes: Regina King, Felicity Huffman, Connor Jessup, Richard Cabral, and Benito Martinez. Sandra Oh, Cherry Jones, Tim DeKay, Janel Moloney, Dallas Roberts, Timothy Hutton, Lili Taylor, Ana Mulvoy-Ten, Mickaëlle X. Bizet, and Clayton Cardenas recurred in the third season on ABC.
The American Crime TV series cancellation was confirmed tonight, by Deadline. Don’t confuse this ABC series with the American Crime Story TV show, which is still going strong on FX.

I’m desperate for a fourth season. Seasons 1-3 were gripping and kept me drawn in. I hope that there’s enough of a fan fare for this series to be picked up maybe by another broadcaster? Who knows. Either way it was a great series and I hope for more.
I really liked American Crimes.
This is such a great show. Wondering actors and writers. I can’t believe there will be no season four
One of the best shows on TV. I can’t believe they cancelled it, yet we continue to be deluged with garbage shows like Housewives of, Honey Boo Boo, Kardashians. It seems every time a great new show comes along, it is cancelled in short order in favour of shows that are bubble gum for the mind. What a sad reflection on TV in general.
I am still upset “American Crime” was cancelled. I am hoping Netflix, Hulu or Amazon will add to their line up. We need more relevant drama’s that reflect real life situations. This was truly a gem.
I was shocked to learn that this show was cancelled. This was one of the best shows on TV. The acting was excellent and the plot lines were realistic and relevant. I just don’t understand the ratings. Was it in a bad time slot???

So disappointed !!! This was one of the most well done shows I’ve seen in a very long time. Superb acting with excellent topics that actually educate the public about situations we deal with in life every day. Shame on you for cancelling such a quality show !!!!!!!!
I am very sad to see this show canceled. American Crime was the only TV show I looked forward to watching. I agree with most of the comments posted here. The show was very well written and the acting superb, especially for TV. The topics are current and the way they are portrayed are very thought provoking. Every character’s action caused a corresponding action or reaction, and such it is in real life.
