Did the fandom sacrifice a goat or something? The American Gods TV show has been renewed for season two, after only two episodes have aired. The TV series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel just premiered on Sunday, April 30th.
American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, and Crispin Glover. The Starz cast also includes Orlando Jones, Gillian Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, Jonathan Tucker, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi, Demore Barnes, Corbin Bernsen, and Mousa Kraish.
The American Gods renewal has not yet been posted to the Starz press site, but Deadline has confirmed it, in an exclusive. Although an episode count has not yet been determined, reportedly season two will have at least eight episodes, like the first season. According to the report, the second season of American Gods should premiere in mid-2018.
The network and studio issued statements via the news outlet.
“Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods,” Starz programming president Carmi Zlotnik said today.
“American Gods has been a ground-breaking series born out of belief and it’s thrilling to be partnered with Starz to continue this ambitious story,” added FremantleMedia North America’s co-CEO Craig Cegielski. Neil Gaiman, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green have ignited a conversation through cinematic magic, presented through a diverse ensemble of actors that continue to keep us engaged and inspired.”

Ian McShane, the devil you love to love, is the linchpin. Add some creative cgi, and a few plot niceties, e.g., a philanderer losing his reason to live, and I will continue to watch.
Ian McShane, the devil you always love, is the linchpin. Add some impressive CGI, and a few plot niceties (a philanderer loses his reason to live…) and I will continue to watch.
I love this show…..it got me so interested that I am now reading the books as well. It’s funny, great plot twists, and doesn’t rely on gratuitous nudity to get viewers……I’d rate this show a 10 out of ten. I am always ready for the next episode as soon as the current episode ends. It’s really opened my eyes and made me curious about the characters! Wonderful job.
It looks like a show will ever watch at all !
Loved the book, and I’m warming to the show.
It’s a weird show but I said yesterday that there would be at least 2 seasons. Great for the fans.
