What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the National Geographic cable channel, Barkskins is based on the novel of the same name by Annie Proulx. The show stars David Thewlis, Marcia Gay Harden, Aneurin Barnard, James Bloor, Christian Cooke, David Wilmot, Thomas M. Wright, Tallulah Haddon, Kaniehtiio (Tiio) Horn, Lily Sullivan, and Zahn McClarnon. The series examines the mysterious massacre of settlers in the vast and unforgiving wilds of 1690s New France. This event threatens to throw the region into all-out war. Likely suspects abound – the English, the Hudson’s Bay Company and a band of Kanien’kehá:ka (Iroquois) possibly in league with the English looking to drive the French from the territory. But, who or what brought these settlers to such a tragic end?

Will National Geographic cancel or renew Barkskins for season two? The ratings have been okay but, the channel doesn’t air many original scripted series so it’s difficult to know what they consider to be a success. The series’ creator wants to make a second season so, we’ll have to wait and see if Nat Geo agrees. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Please, please renew Barkskins for at least a 2nd season! We absolutely LOVE watching this show! It’s intriguing, interesting, excellent storylines, great actors/actresses and we made time every week to watch it. We’ve recommended this show to our family and friends to watch it and they love it too! It would be very disappointing if it’s not renewed once filming can start again. Please seriously consider renewing it!!! Thank you for reading our thoughts on this wonderful series!

What an INCREDIBLE series!!! I realize it wasn’t a dominator ratings wise, but please!! Give it a chance at one more season! -And it never hurts to lay it on this with ads on major networks…

My wife and I enjoyed this series immensely. Please finish the story and a 2nd season would be great! With th low ratings, Nat Geo needed to run more adds for the series. We only found out when my wife saw one of the actresses on a tv talkshow discussing it. Also, with so many choices of programming, as a network, you have to ‘send up a flare’ to get people’s attention. While I am American, I have family in Quebec. Please have 2nd season of Barkskins. Really need to know what happens. Loved the series.
I am so disappointed. I find it absurd to leave so many unanswered questions. I am also angry and empty. You led me down a path and disappeared. I won’t forget this betrayal.
