TV show description:
This dramatic TV series is a prequel to the Breaking Bad series and is set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White’s lawyer.
As the show begins, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill. He’s a small-time lawyer who’s searching for his destiny and (more immediately) hustling to make ends meet. He may not have a Cadillac or a degree from an Ivy League university, but Jimmy’s buoyant optimism and quick wit make him a forceful champion for his downmarket clients. Jimmy’s a legitimate lawyer, an underdog fighting to make a name for himself, but his moral compass and his ambition are often at war with each other.
Before he was Saul’s “fixer”, Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) was a Philadelphia cop. He went into retirement after a series of dark events that he doesn’t discuss. A recent transplant to the Southwest, Mike has come to Albuquerque to pursue a quiet life as a grandfather. However, his specialized skillset lends itself easily to the criminal world, and he soon finds his talents are in high demand.
Chuck McGill (Michael McKean) is Jimmy’s older brother and a name partner at one of Albuquerque’s most prestigious law firms — Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill. A brilliant man of high ideals, Chuck believes that doing the right thing is the true and proper route to success. Unfortunately, an unusual illness makes it difficult for him to lead a normal life.
Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian) is Chuck’s successful law partner and one of life’s winners. His good looks, charm, and success are only part of the reason Jimmy can’t stand him.
Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) is a smart and hardworking lawyer with an ambitious two-year plan. She has worked her way up from humble beginnings to become one of the go-to litigators at Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill. Kim’s history with Jimmy complicates their working relationship, and may ultimately compromise her career goals.
Meanwhile, Nacho Varga (Michael Mando) is a calculating, intelligent criminal. While not yet a kingpin himself, Nacho is bright and has the ear of his terrifying boss. Nacho’s ambitions will put him on a collision course with Jimmy that might just take them both down.
Episode #63 — Saul Gone
The story of small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill’s transformation into his alias, Saul Goodman, comes to an end.
First aired: August 15, 2022.
What do you think? Do you like the Better Call Saul TV show? Do you think it should have ended when it did, or would you have watched a seventh season?
I real surprised with the success of Breaking Bad that this great show does not have higher ratings. People are missing out. Anything Breaking Bad related with always get viewership from me.
Very pleased to see the show is scheduled for a 3rd season. Odnerdkirk is fantastic as the good guy with questionable ethics and Ehrmantraut is an honest and ethical heavy in the film noir tradition. I’m looking forward to the next episodes.
I love this show. The writing is superb.
I’m huge fan of the show. The acting, writing, directing, the characters, the dialog, the sets … everthing about “Better Call Saul” is intellegent, funny, dramatic, tragic … brilliently phenomenal!
It would be a frickin’ Gene Cinnabon shame to not let this show run it’s full course … ya ‘bought the ticket’ and now we need to ‘take the ride’ to it’s ‘Breaking Bad’ end … and beyond!
never miss it ! Bob Odenkirk pulls focus. like few others. LOVE it
I LOVE this show ! I look forward to watching it every week and try to figure out how everyone will get connected (Mike, for instance) I love the dark humour. I just read that it has already been picked up for Season 2 so at least we will get a good long story out of it.
Go Vince and Go Bob !!
I know this web site gives quality dependent articles or reviews and other stuff,
is there any other web page which offers these kinds of information in quality?
Didn’t care for the opening but it did get more interesting as the story line progressed. Looking forward to seeing the next episode.
While watching the first few minutes of the 1st episode, I noted the black and white filming. Noticed Saul’s thinned out hair and newly grown mustache, working in a Cinnabon store… Click! This is the trip Saul went on after meeting up with Walter White and getting out of town. Now, he’s looking over his shoulder in his new surroundings, which now have him living in Nebraska, makes sense. He truly showed his negotiating skills out in the desert, which got his will to go on serving as a Public Defender, it’s coming to fruition and will no doubt have… Read more »
After seeing some new comments, I may give it a shot. This from a guy who liked “Persons Unknown”. Remember that?
Judgement will have to wait as I have a three show rule. Some of the best shows didn’t look very good after the first or second show.
Thanks for that comment Ronald, I agree with you, and to the point, I recall my first impression of Breaking Bad: I thought it as terrible, with a useless subject matter, and very unimaginative acting, and a script that was utterly boring. A few years later, (last summer) I downloaded the whole shebang, after reading at a French web site, that it was the best USA drama of all time. My second attempt at watching the first episode, a few months ago, was difficult. By the third episode, I couldn’t stop watching. Went through the entire series in a week,… Read more »
I think it will be a good show to watch. Once they get all the characters introduced they can spend more time on the story. I’m planning to give it a couple more chances.
I thought it was ok, albeit a little disjointed with the twist involving McKean’s character. The website is pretty cool-o, tho. http://www.bettercallsaul.com/
I haven’t watched this show. I had wondered whether it was worth the time. So far, I don’t think so.
I didn’t care for it….trying to hard….too busy and kinetic for my taste….No wonder they put it on after WD…Try to lure watchers….
