As expected, ABC has cancelled their summer series Black Box after one season of 13 episodes, reports EW.
Black Box revolves around a beautiful and brilliant neuroscientist (Kelly Reilly) who’s hiding the fact that she’s bipolar. The rest of the cast includes Ditch Davey, David Ajala, Terry Kinney, Ali Wong, David Chisum, Laura Fraser, Siobhan Williams, and Vanessa Redgrave.
The series debuted in late April to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.87 million viewers. It was a mediocre start for the dramatic series and the numbers got progressively worse as new episodes were released. Towards the end of its 13 episode run, Black Box dropped to a 0.6 demo rating with 3.72 million.
The last two episodes aired on July 24th, leaving the main character’s professional fate up in the air.

I cant believe they cancelled this show… The one show that I actually enjoyed watching and could relate to got cancelled. Cool. This was probably one of the best shows on tv.
I hope ABC reconsiders canceling this show. I looked forward to a new episode every week. It was nice having a great summer show to watch. I would certainly give it another chance. Most people that I promoted this show to had never heard of it. Maybe ABC should advertise differently to entice people to watch. So many people are busy with vacations and other activities during the summer making it easy to forget what’s on TV. This was one of the best shows on television, it portrayed real life. I can’t believe it’s been cancelled, oh wait yes I can, mistake!
Bring it back please! People are stupid… Y they didn’t watch it is even more ridiculously moronic. This is a great show… Good story line and awesome actors. 1 thought could be that maybe something else was aired at the same time ! Who knows?
Black Box was one of my favorite shows! It needed more advertising, and I wish it would be renewed!
I’ve left numerous posts about the lack of sound critical judgement – on behalf of the network ‘gurus’ who made gave it the ax. Just wondering: DID ANYONE SEE THE EPISODE WITH ED HERMANN? Was that pure coincidence? Disheartened hearing of his recent battle with brain tumors.
Please renew Black Box. It just needs time to catch on…. more advertising for it maybe? I had no idea it was such a good show and started watching it later in the season but its a great show…. don’t be so quick to drop!!! Thanks….
My husband and I truly enjoyed watchin “Black Box.” I worked at a trauma center and with special needs clients for years and the show was great. The actors were wonderful and we are sad that this story has no more episodes. I can imagine so many ways that their lives could continue, so many twists and turns yet to come.

However fantastisk she is Kelly Reilly cannot carry this show alone. Give it more action and mystery and the viewers will love it. Too much attention is given to the episode specific storries.

I loved this show. Could use a little tweeking, but most shows need that their first year til they get on their feet. I looked forward to each episide. Please bring it back for season 2.
Awesome show! Bring it back…….. Well written. Kept you on your toes as to what would happen next! There are crappy shows on now that should have been cancelled instead of this! Great writing , and acting and of course awesome cast!!!!!
Please reconsider bringing this show back! It was so well written and the actors were phenomenal. I was really addicted to this show. It just needed more time to expand it’s viewers. With so many options on TV and the various streaming services – Hulu, Netflix and Prime, I am not sure how any show survives. Please bring this one back! It was the best show I have seen in a long time.
