Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Black-ish for season five? Though the ratings are down, I can’t see the network cancelling this family sitcom any time soon. I predict it will score in a renewal. Predictions are cheap, though, so I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with breaking developments and my dinner plans. Are they going to get a divorce? .that take all the fun out of the show. I love seeing for once marriages is working. We’ll see.
Love the show !!
Please keep the good going and fight for Blacisk
Please keep the struggle going and fight for Blackish.
Blackish is a wonderful show. The fourth season, however, has clearly gone in the wrong direction. The marital discord and subsequent acrimony between Dre and Bo, has left me feeling sad and angry. I, as do many of the show’s viewers, want to see an on screen expression of positive Black family and marital relationships. I could previously view the show, and get an emotional boost from the positive energy, that was generated from the family interaction. It tackled relevant issues that affected many American households. The last few episodes, however, have made me not want to watch it now.… Read more »
Very well said. I thoroughly enjoyed the first three seasons. I enjoyed the fact that a black family was finally viewed in a positive way. No drugs and no thug mentality that seems to be the image that our media sees as a “norm” for black families. But this last season went in a very dark direction. Yes divorce is normal, yes it affects every race, but why can’t we have a fun filled family show that is remenecent of the wholesome family shows like The Brady Bunch, Leave It to Beaver. Our kids today do not have shows like… Read more »
I feel they say too many racist remarks towards other cultures and white people thats why I will never watch it again.
I agree! I watch the show to laugh there are enough serious and sad things to watch. They totally changed!
I agree with the comments. No one wants to see this kind of example that black people can’t maintain a marriage with out getting a divorce. I was just getting use to the show and loving it and this what happened. .”a divorce “?
I love it when the show alters between comedy and drama, education and fluff.
It’s one of the most brilliant show I’ve seen in years. I disagree that season 4 was weaker than earlier seasons.
Even if the ratings are down, sometimes a show is just culturally and historically important and should be renewed on this basis alone.
If they fail to renew it, I hope it’s a “Taxi” situation and another, smarter network (Netflix?) picks it up.
I used to love the show. The episodes this season have been hot and cold. It doesn’t help that the whole marital issue between Dre and Rainbow came out of nowhere. Ending the season on this doesn’t help with increasing viewership.
I am really hurt right now. I love this show and want Dre and Bow to stay together. Also I do agree they need to get back to comedy. Come on Blackish, you guys got this. Now work it out and lets get back to business.
You are so right. This pending divorce has me not wanting to watch the show anymore. I love them together and I can’t believe their falling out based on their past chemistry. They need to get back to comedy. This is way toooo much for my emotions lol.
I really like this show, but got to get back to comedy. The show has gotten way to serious and makes me want to stop watching it.
Yes, this show is a must see TV, great content!! I want to see Season 5!!
I am White and love this show!!! It removes race by facing it. It celebrates the culture of the family and makes bigotry ridiculous for every stereotype (black white gay straight etc.)! It is beautifully written and artfully acted. I hope that Season 5 happens!! They should count the unplugged majority!!!
Blackish is the best family show on tv right now. It tackles very important issues that all couples and families go through. It is so great to have Black actors that can relate to everyone and also give the reality of what life is and has been for Black Americans. PPPPllleeeaase renew Blackish!
I agree please please please renew blackish, it Not only tackles today’s struggle but it is also educational in helping people understand each other’s differences and similarities with a little bit of History thrown in. Please “RENEW”
