ABC continues their search to find a new hit family sitcom for Wednesday nights. So many have failed and been cancelled. Will Black-ish be the next to go or will it be a success in the ratings and be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Black-ish, patriarch Dre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) begins to wonder if his success has caused him and his family to lose touch with their roots. The rest of the family is played by Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, and Laurence Fishburne.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed Black-ish for a second season.
Final season averages: 2.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.10 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Black-ish TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
This show is hilarious! I really enjoy it. Hope it gets renewed for another season.
The show of 1/14 was SUBERB. The writers are to be commended for dealing with a sensitive topic in a wonderful way…..
The show is PURE TRASH. Not even worthy of Netflix.
There are many reasons that I dislike this show:
1. The kids are annoying
2.The father is annoying
3. The set decor is cold and clinic. I needed a sweater on the first night that it aired.
4. The script is poorly written
I watched this show once, and that was enough for me. More realistic family oriented shows: “The Middle” and “The Goldbergs”.
I really didn’t like the show today blackish. I very upset how the father was trying to show his son that the white people were races. It would of been much better to show him how people can get a long. With all the problems going on now, that was a very bad move with this show. I will never watch blackish again
THANK YOU SUE, Finally someone with a brain, who see’s the racist remarks has the guts to put a comment re: Black-ish GO AWAY………
I thought the show was very relevant with what has been going on. Too many people are trying to fight an old out dated war. Is everything perfect but it is not clear cut anymore. It is more about character and expectation then reality. I know way more white people who Know MLK’s I have a dream then young blacks. At least his son had the ‘idea’ of what it was about. Keep the show it is educating its haters.
Charlie, I agree with some of what your wrote, But last night the son on the bus tried to
educate the father, however being the racist he is, did not get it & tells the son to GO SIT IN
THE BACK OF THE BUS!!. And the writers & producers think thats funny????
Thank you Sue…..Thanks Greg the show is trash……Thanks Monique 4 great points.
I think this is the funniest show on T.V, I rarely watch television because most shows are a bore, this show is funny, I love the family, please keep this show going!
Its so sad that there are people out there that actually think Black-ish is funny, what happened to clean humor, and nice families in sitcoms that don’t try to prove how great they are because they are white or black, middle class, and with kids with good manners etc.
I think the show should be cancelled…………
This show is hilarious and totally relatable.
1. Don’t mind shows like empire , jerry springer the game all of the black based reality tv shows, but I can’t relate to them
2. The grand parents are just like my grandparents there is nothing on tv that balances out black life like this show
3. After all this time of being told I’m not black enough( based solely off of the aforementioned shows) I’m glad to see a major network take a step in a different direction to show the world that there are many shades and styles of black
I love this show. My family and I find it hilarious and time well spent! Hope it doesn’t get cancelled.
Do you want to laugh at some clean humor…….watch THE McCARTHYS Thurs. 9:30 PM
Can’t understand why this show doesn’t have more people watching it………………thanks
maybe because it is a stupid version of a dozen similar shows that flopped in the past ten years….
numbers seem to be falling off pretty fast
Love the show!!
CANCEL!!!!
I wish who ever writes & producers this stupid show would read the comments. Yes, this show should have been cancelled a long time ago…its is the worst show on T.V….
LOVE this show. It’s hilarious and is so on point. We absolutely crack up when this is on, and at the same time I’m wondering if you need to be black to get all of the references. If so, sadly it doesn’t stand a chance of staying on (just not enough black folks to keep the ratings going), which is sad cause its Sooo Funny!
I had high hopes of a latter-day Cosby Show. What it turned out to be was a show about a guy who thought he needed to keep reminding himself and his kids they were black, and not to become too assimilated into the upper middle class where they obviously were. If diversity in TV is about “seeing people that look like me,” maybe the authors don’t know any middle class blacks and can’t portray them for a black audience.
THIS SHOW IS COMPLETE GARBAGE – CAN’T WAIT UNTIL IT GETS THE AXE
I have been commenting that this show should have been cancelled after the second showing. Keep the McCarthys on, its the funnest sit com in a LONG TIME. John Ritters son is great in it……
I like the show alot. I had such a funny experience after watching the episode about the “nod”. I live in a town that is not all white, there are lots of Latinos, but very few black people. I was at whole foods walking out.A black man was walking towards me and gave a nod to someone who was behind me. I just had a feeling it was the “nod”. I turned around and he indeed was noding to a black woman seated in the cafe. It did not seem like they knew each other, he didn’t do anything but… Read more »
