ABC continues their search to find a new hit family sitcom for Wednesday nights. So many have failed and been cancelled. Will Black-ish be the next to go or will it be a success in the ratings and be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Black-ish, patriarch Dre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) begins to wonder if his success has caused him and his family to lose touch with their roots. The rest of the family is played by Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, and Laurence Fishburne.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed Black-ish for a second season.
Final season averages: 2.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.10 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Black-ish TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
This is a great show like the Crosby’s. Funny and touching. A great cast.
I can’t wait until they renew this show. It’s driving me crazy.
This show is great. Please renew it.
Blackish is used as a very vulpine tool to promote Jewish culture while disparaging African & African American culture. I saw that in the first episode.
Keep the show on, it’s very enjoyable & relatable.
It’ a great family show about real people and not vampires and zombies
I love it!!
Yessssss keep Black is ……there any doubt about keeping the show? Why the heck does the network have doubts? Soooooo refreshing to watch a evening show that has humor on current real issues without being dirty or with subliminal sex plots.
Linda & Yvonne Williams
I totally agree with you both & anyone else that feels it should stay for the humor, being able to relate, no dead people walking around & satire.
Love, Love, Love
Actually. ..I’m a big fan of the show. Its a funny show…most important it’s a
family show. Oops…did I say family. Yes, there are a few people who want to
watch a show and people are taking their clothes off.
A person needs the stress release of a good gut laugh. Blackish is just what the doctor prescribed. Who the heck is trying to cancel my show?!!
Why does race have to be a factor. Also, the comment to move the shows to BET would be a great idea you piece of nothing. Get a life and I hope your kids have African American babies.
As a 38 year old white suburban stay at home mom, I freaking love this show! I hated the first episode. I’m so glad I gave it a second shot. It’s my favorite next to The Goldbergs. Don’t cancel it.
I love this show and it definitely fills a need on TV. The time slot has been an issue for me since day one since I am a long time SUV and Criminal Minds fan. Now that Empire has need added to the time slot as well, this show is one of those that I have to watch the next day online. I wished that counted for the ratings!
Blackish went from 7 million viewers to 6 million, did it ever occur to you “Empire hurts Blackish” types that maybe those million viewers were white? or mostly white? yeah, didn’t think so. that doesn’t fit the “they both are Black shows and must only be watched by blacks, who in turn can only watch one show at a time: racist narrtive.
I love this show. Please don’t cancel it. My husband and I are always looking forward to watching the show each week. So realistic and funny.
My family and ABSOLUTELY LOVE the show!!!!! Keep it coming. Viewing time a little late and some language too much for the young kids, but we Love it.
The time slot is now an issue, the show has serious competition from Empire on FOX.
the show has serious competition from Empire on FOX – care to explain this racist comment.
Nemo F Yes, I’ll give my point of view on this. Having watched my fair share of sitcoms that features non Caucasians for many years as the main character, living in a middle to high upper class suburban all white neighborhood & having achieved their status the same as their neighbors. Haven’t lasted that long. My feelings to why is – The non Caucasians are college educated, speak/act the same as their Caucasians co-workers & neighbors, have the same if not better amenities, not competing to out do the neighbor or themselves & being happy where they are. Where as,… Read more »
so last week Empire went up in ratings AND SO DID BLACKISH. kind of screws up your idea doesn’t it? they BOTH go up. According to you, Blackish should have dropped even more and that didn’t happen.
Nemo
Read my theory again, I never said, ‘Black-ish would be gone.’ Nemo, my conversation is over with you, since this isn’t a debate & I don’t have to explain myself to you or anyone, find someone else.
Good Bye!
Nemo sounds like he/she is just a prick trying to stir trouble. Personally I hope both shows get cancelled..or move them to BET.
JustDave
Having both shows on BET would be best, but not cancelled. Hopefully BET would pick both shows up when or if the stations decide to cancel?
“Viewing time a little late and some language too much for the young kids, but we Love it.”
You let the kids stay up later than they should and listen to inappropriate language and rave about how much your family loves the show. No wonder our society is going downhill fast.
