Last week, CBS premiered their new Friday night cop series, Blue Bloods. This marks the return of Tom Selleck to CBS in a regular TV show. His last series for the network, Magnum PI, lasted for eight seasons. Will this one last as long or be quickly cancelled?
Blue Bloods revolves around the Reagans, a multi-generation family of New York City cops. The series stars Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Len Cariou, and Dylan Moore.
Last week, Blue Bloods debuted to a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 13.01 million total viewers. That was enough to be the most-watched show in its timeslot and for the whole night in both categories.

By historical comparison, that’s a significant improvement in the timeslot. Last season’s sixth season premiere of Numb3rs attracted just a 1.8 in the demo and 8.10 million viewers.
CBS is no doubt very pleased with this performance and, as long as these numbers hold up week after week, it seems like Blue Bloods will be around for quite awhile. Based on a breakdown of the ratings in 15 minute increments, almost all of the people who tuned in for the premiere stayed to watch the entire episode. That’s a good indication that most of them will be back for episode two.
What do you think? Did you tune in to see Blue Bloods? Is the show worth watching or should it be cancelled?

Great show way to start off with Cadet graduation. Oldest son trying to hard to act. Good relation with Sellec and the guy that plays his father. Sister and Older brother fighting at family table in front of children disrespectful gives to family violence, tone it down a little, make that part more homey. Sister and older brother seem to be play acting instead of realism, fix it. other than that Tom Sellec and grandpa are a good combination.
yes, keep it!
I am with Josie. Donnie Wahlberg is the show. I tuned in for Tom, but I stayed for Donnie.
Great show! At least the pilot was. Selleck is awesome as always. Cast is great. Though Donnie Wahlberg seems to be the real star and gets very little of the credit. I thought he carried the first two episodes. Do love the show.
Yes, yes, yes, please keep it. I missed the 2nd episode because I thought it was going to be on Sundays. I watched first eisode twice, once on Friday and again on Sunday. The first show was outstanding. I loved the New York scene with all the cadets marching in for graduation exercises. Terrific way to introduce all the characters.
Love Tom Selleck
Admire Tom Sellick and his works..Great Actor.. Keep the show
I’m a huge Tom Selleck fan also and would watch him in anything. I prefer the Jesse Stone character, but Blue Bloods is a good show and I hope it gets a long run. This isn’t your typical “Cop” show !
I love the show ! It has sort of series type proticol, sort of like Hill Street Blues. My main complaint is the broadcast hours. Here it’s on a 10:00pm.I don’t see how they can rate a show by having on so late at night ! Everybody does’t have a VCR or a DVD burner. But defeniely keep it !
Tom Selleck is the ONLY good thing about ‘Blue Bloods’. I especially expected better of Donnie Wahlberg. Other than Mr Selleck, the acting is contrived, awkward, & feels like people trying to ‘act’ like actors in a cop drama. The writing is horrible, with unnatural & stilted dialog, & absolutely nothing new. People just don’t talk that way, just don’t act that way, not even in crime drama programs… especially not in good ones.
CBS should back more of Tom Selleck’s excellent ‘Jesse Stone’ series, instead of this travesty.
I would watch Tom Selleck in anything, but this happens to be a good show! What’s not to like – I adore Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes, and the storyline seems to glide effortlessly between the family and the work! I wish Tom had more scenes, since he is truly captivating to watch, but I like the show – I say keep it, most definitelty!
Yes keep it. Honestly crime shows are still not gonna old any time soon. I liked this show, but still didn’t stand out too much other then Tom in it. But still worth watching and I hope it gets renewed.
Keep Blue Bloods, It is an excellent show.
Loved the show and I am excited to start calling him Francis instead of Magnum!
I like Tom Selleck a lot and loved seeing him as Jesse Stone, but he is emphatically not a NY personage. He would fit as someone in Maine, as was Jesse Stone, albeit, on a run-away from life in California, but he is a western stalwart and does not fit a New York character at all. They could have used Christopher Walken, say, Harvey Keitel, or a lot of other people, but not someone who has more the cowboy look than that of someone from NYC. He is just not right for the part and jangles with the ill fit.
YES!! For once, a show I love is gonna stay around!!!!!! Love Tom Selleck, love Donnie Wahlberg!
