Last week, CBS premiered their new Friday night cop series, Blue Bloods. This marks the return of Tom Selleck to CBS in a regular TV show. His last series for the network, Magnum PI, lasted for eight seasons. Will this one last as long or be quickly cancelled?
Blue Bloods revolves around the Reagans, a multi-generation family of New York City cops. The series stars Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Len Cariou, and Dylan Moore.
Last week, Blue Bloods debuted to a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 13.01 million total viewers. That was enough to be the most-watched show in its timeslot and for the whole night in both categories.

By historical comparison, that’s a significant improvement in the timeslot. Last season’s sixth season premiere of Numb3rs attracted just a 1.8 in the demo and 8.10 million viewers.
CBS is no doubt very pleased with this performance and, as long as these numbers hold up week after week, it seems like Blue Bloods will be around for quite awhile. Based on a breakdown of the ratings in 15 minute increments, almost all of the people who tuned in for the premiere stayed to watch the entire episode. That’s a good indication that most of them will be back for episode two.
What do you think? Did you tune in to see Blue Bloods? Is the show worth watching or should it be cancelled?

we love this show. pls do not cancel
I enjoy Blue Bloods so much. Please don’t cancel the show. You can get rid of all of those reality shows. To me they are just a waste of time. I see absolutely no sense in watching them. It seems like every time you produce a good show that adults can enjoy you take it off the air. I also love The Good Wife.
I was disappointed that Tom Selleck let himself be cast in a romantic situation with a girl younger than his daughter in the series. this is beneath him. He would have come off better in a romance with a mature woman who challenges him, not a twenty year old who challenges him.
Best show on TV. Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg should get Emmy awards. Wonderful cast, great, intelligent story line, family drama, suspense, all in one show. Look forward to continuing episodes to see what happens to Jamie and the Blue Templars. So much junk on TV, this is one show not to miss.
While I didn’t get on board from the beginning, this has become one of my favorite shows. If I don’t catch it on Fri. night, I watch it on demand. Wouldn’t miss it. I really like the writing, the interplay among family members and have become a big fan of Donnie Wahlberg.
I would like this show to continue. Along with Good Wife, it’s the only network show I watch and I’m beginning to prefer it over Good Wife which is becoming a little too far fetched for me. JMHO
Every year I pick one show to watch regularly and I was so excited when Blue Bloods came out! I was lost without “24” after so many seasons but find Blue bloods the combination of what I love–family and suspense. It seems to be a relatively decent show with well developed characters and plots. Not to mention some fine actors!
Please do not take this show off and keep so many that all seem the same and not worthy of my time anyway!
Blue Bloods is the best new series to come along in a LONG time. Finally, quality television for adults. Tom Selleck is superb, as are Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and the rest of the cast. GREAT, GREAT show. I hope it’s around for a long, long time. I live for Friday nights these days. Keep it coming.
Blue Bloods is a great show. Take some of those junk reality shows off. Leave Blue Bloods alone.
There’s so much idiotic shows on all networks now and when one comes along as well written as Bluebloods–it seems the network people always find a way to screw things up by moving it and not allowing the show to gain a footing..
Perhaps they might learn that by seeing the ratings fall for recently moved CSI Miami????
KEEP BLUE BLOODS ON. FORGET ABOUT THESE REALITY SHOWS. And yes it is good having Tom Selleck back. The rest of the ensemble isn’t bad either. Good clean entertainment…….not enough of it on TV these days. Please stop moving it around, pick a night and stay there. Never mind trying to jump start these remakes of past good shows.
Please do not cancei BLUE BLOODS.WE ENJOY THIS SO VERY MUCH.THERE IS SO MUCH JUNK ON TV.BLUE BLOODS IS GREAT. THANK YOU.
DON’T CANCEL Blue Bloods. The ensemble is really good. I love the “family” atmosphere as well. And, of course, We love Tom!!!!
DON’T CANCEL!!! pleeeeeeeeeeeze
Look, here’s the thing, reality shows are lack imagination. Blue Bloods, Tom and the crew are the epitomy of what television should be. Leave it on. That’s it, drama at its finest.
Thank you.
I always look forward to watching Blue Bloods when ever it’s on. I really like all the actors but I especially love Donnnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block. Please keep it on. Thank You, Julie
With the loss of “Flashpoint”, “Cold Case” and “The Unit”, CBS hasn’t been on my not-so-happy-with list for the last while. Moving things around hasn’t won any points either but then I don’t imagine CBS really cares. “BLUE BLOODS” NEEDS TO STAY!!!!! It’s great to have Tom Selleck back on the small screen and the rest of the cast is AWESOME! You need to consider getting rid of Survivor, Amazing Race and Big Brother — crap shows that waste air space. LEAVE “BLUE BLOODS” ON THE AIR!!!!!!!!!
We love the show. We like the story and the actors are great in all the parts. Tom Selleck and all the cast members do a great job. Please leave them on the air.
I like it on Friday nights!
