Season four of When Calls the Heart airs its finale tonight — Sunday, April 23rd. But should there be a fifth season? What do you think? Should Hallmark Channel cancel or renew the TV series?
The historical drama follows Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher whose life is turned upside down when she moves to a small, coal mining town. The cast also includes Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin, Chelah Horsdal, Mitchell Kummen, Gracyn Shinyei, and Martin Cummins.
When Calls the Heart is a solid performer for Hallmark Channel. Ratings for season four are up from season three, with an average rating of 0.28 in the 18-49 demo and 2.41 million viewers so far. For comparison, season three averaged a .24 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.06 million viewers.
It seems like a fifth season renewal should be a slam dunk but there’s been no announcement yet. Once again, the “Hearties” are having to be patient.

When Calls The Heart is an awesome show that I highly recommended to ithers to watch. Great family show. There should shiuld never be any question about renewing many more seasons. Keep the seasons coming. The Hearties aren’t ready to disband any time soon.
It is a beautiful story and if possible should go another season.
Definitely should be renewed. I love this show. It reminds us how life should be, that is, having basic morals like being there for each other and as a community, respect, and how simple life is without technology.

An absolutely great show–the ensemble is well meshed, the story line is captivating even IF there are times when one can almost feel what is coming but nonetheless one cannot take it for granted. This is a series that should never be in doubt about being renewed and in fact I firmly believe the character as well as the period development is such that this series could and should have a long TV life to match such classics as Gunsmoke, MASH, NYPD BLUE, All In The Family, Happy Days etc– Bottom Line: When you have a clear winner you stay… Read more »

This is one of my favorite shows. Definitely renew it. Such a nice easy drama.
Yes! There should definitely be a season 5. I want to see Jack and Elizabeth get married and maybe even have their own children.

It’s a beautiful family oriented show. Not many like this one on television. It makes you laugh, cry and really be in touch with yourself and your family. It makes you feel like you are part of the show because the characters are so real and you actually feel their joy and their pain. Wholesome values and Sundays at our house are still family days together and we spend the day together from breakfast to Sunday night family dinners. Please renew when calls the heart. We have so little to choose from when it comes to wholesome series that it would be a shame not to continue with the series we hearties love to watch.

I am over 80 and an avid watcher of the show. It is s great respite from all the network crime dramas. The acting and stories are wonderful. Yes, there definitely should be a season 5. And beyond !
