Veteran actress Patricia Heaton is best known for her roles on long-running sitcoms Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle. However, she has also starred in comedy series like Back to You and Room for Two that have only lasted one season apiece. How will her newest CBS show perform in the ratings? Will Carol’s Second Act be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A multi-camera sitcom, the Carol’s Second Act TV series stars Patricia Heaton, Kyle MacLachlan, Ito Aghayere, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Sabrina Jalees, and Ashley Tisdale, with Lucas Neff recurring. This comedy series revolves around Carol Kenney (Heaton), a woman in her 50s who has embarked on a unique second act after raising her children, getting divorced, and retiring from teaching. She pursues her dream of becoming a doctor. On Carol’s first day at work at Loyola Memorial Hospital, she’s prepped with an abundance of life experience, people skills, talent, and enthusiasm — advantages that her co-workers don’t immediately appreciate.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/13 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Carol’s Second Act TV series on CBS? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*5/6/20 update: Carol’s Second Act has been cancelled on CBS.
Love Patricia Heaton, but this show needs help. Too many age related jokes. Who cares about one actor being a lesbian. Supporting actors are kinda silly. It seems to be trying too hard. Filling in the blanks…a black, hard ass boss, a lesbian, a narcissistic guy, an idiot guy. And of course the stereotypical pharm rep. Come on. Carol needs some help.
while I love Patricia Heaton, this show should be cancelled. The laugh tracks are hideous. Laughter at every single line, even lines not intended to be funny. It’s extremely distracting.
And the lines that are supposed to be funny aren’t. She should try again with another series with better writers.
Patricia Heston is too good for this show.
Heaton, not Heston. She’s not playing Moses. Cancel it. Not worth watching.
Cancel this disaster.
This show is awful. I hope it gets canceled. This is not true to how it really is. It seems they try to hard. This show is not funny at all. The acting is horrible!!!!!
So tedious to watch. Like a stand-up comedy routine….wait for the punchline. Saw show #1…. no others.
It’s pretty blah. I haven’t laughed once. The Carol character gets on my nerves. Kyle Mc character is just stupid and makes the medical profession look bad.
Carol definitely gets on your nerves. So into herself dancing around. Who does the writing for the show. He or she is the problem. The show I hate to say it really terrible.
bad show. not funny in the least
Trite…boring…and seriously NOT funny. Sad because I’m a big fan of PH.
Love Carol’s Second Chance …. !!!
Love PH … Love the Plot
Love that it’s about an (older) WOMAN
PH is very funny… nice to have her back on TV again!
I’m a Big Fan of PH, watched her in Everyone Loves Raymond and The Middle.
TY
Okay, 2-1/2 episodes is all I can take of this very poorly-written show. I’m sorry because I really like Patty, but my tolerance for formula sitcoms is limited. Ta-ta.
So agree. Carol is to into herself, Not real.
After two episodes, my affection is starting to wane. If Patricia doesn’t settle down and the writing doesn’t improve, I’m gone.
Yes that’s it. She is all over the place. what happened to her voice? Its so gruff,
After ten minutes, turned off this lousy show. The jokes are forced and unbelievable.
Have you watched any other CBS comedies? If you have this show is not as bad as the ones that have you’re a famous producer is making.
Love Patricia Heaton in anything. Will be a fan of this show for years I’m sure!
I like Patricia (brilliant in brilliant “Middle”), but I’m on the fence about this show. I feel she’s trying way too hard to be funny, or maybe that’s just the way the character is written. In either event, I’ll give this several chances before waving bu-bye.
