NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.
What do you think? Will you miss Chase? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

NBC sucks. They finally have a good show and they replace it with game show garbage. Now I remember why I watch CBS.
Popularity of T.V. shows are directly effected by what time slot they are placed in. Networks routinely put their new shows up against popular shows on other networks. This is a self defeating procedure that dooms otherwise good shows like Chase from getting a fair chance. I thoroughly enjoyed Chase and thought it was a very entertaining and fun show to watch. Again, networks pander to those who live and die for their pitiful reality programming. I personally will never watch reality T.V. They are a blatent attempt by the networks for programming on the cheap. Not having to pay… Read more »
I agree that Chase was a good show to watch. The one that did get dumped (do not know the name) was the husband /wife detective team, I watched once and knew it was a flop !!!!!! June 11,2011
I will be sad to see Chase leave, I have been looking forward to seeing more
So…NBC….could you please air the few shows you have left?
I wish I hadn’t chosen to start recording Minute to Win It just as Chase went off for I fear I have contributed to the upswing in NBC ratings. I don’t enjoy watching the game show but was going to use it for ideas for youth group activities….So I recorded to browse and collect ideas…not to watch for enjoyment!
Sometimes…no often…ratings are overrated~
I still wonder what happened to the poor senator’s wife in “Vanished”.
Sue » They just finished airing them on Saturday nights and can be viewed on Hulu.
I agree with everyone else, I am sick and tired of reality shows. We have enough reality on a daily basis as it is. TV is supposed to be entertaining. I am also tired of watching 40 minutes of commercials and 10 minutes of actual program. When are the networks going to wake up. Chase was an excellent show as far as I am concerned. I don’t know who is running the networks but they need to wake up.
I agree 100% you just start to like a really good show and they cancell. No wonder we don’t watch much TV anymore
Wow, I’m really surprised and disappointed that they cancelled it. I thought it was really good too.
I really liked this show. I thought the characters were great. I am very disappointed that this has been cancelled.
I was so looking forward to watching CHASE. Why take off a good program emphasizing the savy and strength of a woman? I hope the network will revisit their decision – I HATE Minute to Win It!!
I love Chase and will be sad to see it go
I fully agree with the other comments. Everytime there is something on that is entertaining it’s taken off. I too am sick of all the reality junk. If I want reality all I have to do is look around me. I watch tv to be entertained.
i kno im sick it was my favorite show i dont get it it dont make any sense to cancle one of the best show they dont get it
NBC just never stops making blunders. Everyone I have talked to is so fed up with reality shows. I’m not a follower of these kind of shows. I have seen bits and pieces of them because there are so many of them and every time I turn my TV on, one of them is on. They arn’t entertaining and they don’t teach one anything. At least Chase was entertaining and after a busy day, I want to sit down and be enterained. NBC has only a handful of quality evening shows and now they have cancelled Law and Order CI.… Read more »
I am not surprised that NBC doesn’t know how to recognize a good program when they have one. Look what they did to Southland!!! Thank goodness for TNT!!
I love Chase and I will be seriously disappointed if it is gone! Come on NBC!
the cancellation of chase only shows that ppl have no life at channel 5,they think reality tv is entertaining, its puke as with all the so called reality shows, biggest loser ,fat slobs,or tv series featuring fat ppl as stars, its totally disgusting tv,but anytime theres a decent show thats not saturated with fat ppl,or blks,or complete idiots ,it always get dumped on channel 5,the big moron station
