Chasing Life has been cancelled by ABC Family. Fans will not see the Italia Ricci series return for a season three. The season two finale hit a low in the ratings, and that doomed the series.
This will leave fans without closure. The season two finale series ended things with a cliffhanger, and season three would have picked things up from there.
Patrick Sean Smith, the man behind the series, talked about the season two cliffhanger finale with The Hollywood Reporter.
“With this finale, I wanted to go out as big as possible with as many question marks as possible. Any time I ask a question on a show, I typically know what that answer is. There’s a lot to explore in season three, like April’s emotional state and her big decision to end treatment, there’s a lot to explore with Uncle George and the manuscript and the investigation that’s now in play, and then a lot to explore with Brenna and Finn now that Greer is moving back to town, and also what happens with Beth. I mean, everyone’s life is up in the air right now by the end of the second season.”
Italia Ricci sent out a tweet that expressed how she felt about the cancellation with one emoticon earlier this morning.

Are you sad about the decision by ABC Family to cancel Chasing Life? Tell us what you think.
Simply put don’t put a show on that you aren’t going to finish, so over unfinished shows, makes you not want to have pay tv why bother it would be like getting a car having car payments and then someone feels like taking it off of you bam gone
I am so disappointed to learn there will be no third season…
It is so hard to find a decent show in the midst of so much junk. Chasing Life was very entertaining and light hearted. With all the things going on in the world today, why can’t one Network step up to the plate, instead of being like everyone else.
That really pisses me off that they’re cancelling all these shows I really like. LIKE Chasing Life. And now I don’t know any of the conclusions to any of the storylines. What happens to April what happened to her cancer?did she die.? Does she get back with her ex-boyfriend Dominic? That makes me so mad man maybe you should write a book about it I’ll buy it so I’ll know what happens…
I AM TOTALLY UPSET!! You get the viewers hooked on Chasing Life now it gets CANCELLED!!!! Why Why??
I hate that you guys ended it, i love this show. Cant believe you cancelled a unbelievably amazing show. Shame on yall.
I get hooked on this and now they’re taking the last season three away I am very sad !!!!
love that show my mother and I want the show to continue with more new seasons to continue
They should at least make a 2 hour movie to have closure. It was a good series and we hoped it would return.
WHY WHY WHY??? The one show I looked forward to and you go and cancel it???? Thanks!!! NOT! It didn’t have enough zombies or bloodshed??? OMG THANKS ALOT!
I’m kind of glad. Once they killed off Leo and I balled my eyes out, this show was dead to me.
You can now see ‘Leo’ on the ABC show ~ “Blood & Oil” which began in Sept. 2015, but is now on hiatus until their new season begins. Hopefully, it will not be cancelled, like Chasing Life was. That sucks!
Totally hopen someone picks this up. The story is not over!
I can’t believe that ABC Family would keep shows like young and hungry on when there are too many actors on that show that are too old to be playing the role of older mid 20’s when they are older in real life and have children of their own. Chasing life faced reality of what happens when a loved one falls sick from having cancer and having to battle the long hard battle. This show Chasing Life is more informative on how to be able to let family, friends and loved ones help battle cancer. How to be honest with… Read more »
this is very upsetting i loved the show and looked for season 3. the end of season 2 left me balling my eyes out wish the show was never canceled. it should absolutely continue on netflix for those who want to keep watching it.
Terribly sad about this shows cancellation. Cancer has been part of my life for sometime and this show handled the reality of living with it quite well. The cast was absolutely amazing and the scripts kept us coming back for more. As much as I’d like to see closure I’d much prefer to see the show continue. Cancer doesn’t tend to end abruptly except in death and apparently Chasing Life is no exception.
