LOS ANGELES, MARCH 19, 2019 – WarnerMedia Entertainment today announced the premiere date and showrunner for Chasing the Cure (formerly known by its working title M.D. Live) from TNT and Lionsgate Television. This is a groundbreaking enterprise anchored and executive produced by award-winning journalist and humanitarian Ann Curry. It brings together a weekly live two-hour television broadcast with a 24/7 global digital platform in an effort to help patients who are suffering from undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or uncured medical mysteries. This enterprise will harness the full power of both television and a multi-platform experience in order to break down medical barriers in service of patients. Additionally, this initiative will foster and empower people across the globe on all screens to become medical detectives.
Debuting Thursday, July 25, Chasing the Cure will be simulcast on TNT andTBS from 8-10 p.m. ET.
Joining Chasing the Cure as showrunner is Kim Bondy, an award-winning journalist who held top positions at CNN, NBC and Al Jazeera America before becoming Head of Content at Soledad O’Brien’s Starfish Media Group in 2017.
Through a 24/7 digital experience and interactive components including live, second-screen experiences, suggestions, along with highly accredited doctors, will be able to share their experiences, advice and recommendations on what’s happening during the broadcast in real time – all toward helping find cures for people with mysterious conditions.
Additionally, Chasing the Cure will cultivate an online community for everyone to dive deeper into each case, not only empowering every one of us to become medical detectives, but also creating a space for people to provide support to people dealing with undiagnosed conditions. Everyone will have the unique opportunity to submit their own cases via an in-take process to be cared for by an around-the-clock engaged community and considered for the live broadcast.
“How could I not want to be part of this project, given the real chance that it will help people suffer less? This collaboration of physicians, journalists and television creators is not only groundbreaking, it could potentially help encourage new ways for people to access care,” says Ann Curry.
“Leveraging the power of a global digital community to help real people solve their medical mysteries is our mission on Chasing the Cure,” says Michael Bloom, senior vice president of unscripted and live programming for TNT. “With Ann and Kim’s leadership and dedication to powerful, honest storytelling, we plan on delivering significant results to those who are in need of answers or a path to wellness. This is not just a one-dimensional live television experience.”
“The audience will have a chance to proactively make a difference when we launch Chasing the Cure this summer, a project that takes a groundbreaking approach to tackling people’s unsolved medical mysteries,” says Jennifer O’Connell, executive vice president and head of worldwide unscripted television for Lionsgate. “It is one of those rare initiatives that seeks to inspire with a larger humanitarian purpose, and it couldn’t be in the hands of a better network partner or a more brilliant and respected team.”
TNT has ordered ten episodes of the series from Lionsgate Television.
Chasing the Cure is produced by B17 Entertainment and Motiv8 Media in association with Lionsgate Television with Brien Meagher, Rhett Bachner, Kara Kurcz, Brian Lee and Eric Ortner serving as executive producers along with Curry and Bondy.”

He is looking for the underlying “why” these all occurred within a short amount of time. He can barely walk, his hands ache, he is losing collagen in his hands and feet, his chest, and his *****. Can you help us find an answer to all these diseases occurring within months of each other. He doesn’t want to live this way and has thought that if he has to he may… Read more »

My son has ulcerative colitis and refuses to believe that the only way to cure his UC is through polypharma. He is 20yrs old vegan and unbelievable strict with his diet, as his mother this drives me crazy. As his mother I can not fix him and I cry and worry because I see him running to the bathroom. We are getting another referral to MUSC in hopes to find a holistic organic way of healing him, but we have been told they are just going to treat you the same. I am desperate and scared because it is limiting… Read more »
I would like to know if there is a way to apply for this show. I am a 37 year old woman. I have a laundry list of illnesses, over 30 surgeries and more to come, my bones are very brittle that the doctors have aged my spine of a 79 years old, and that my memory has gotten worse. I was not born with any of these problems and they started a little over 10 years ago out of nowhere. I live for the day because with what is going on who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Hi. I am kinda embarrassed but it’s to help people with a rare case of excema. Me my niece, sister and brother inherited a rare case of excema. Most creams and over the counter medicines do not work on us, we can only find stuff to relieve the itching a bit, but other than that we break out all over and it has even left embarrassing dark marks on me. It would be nice to find a doctor that can finally put a stop to the breakouts and intense itching. Let us know if you can help. Thank you.
I started these weird involuntary movements through out my body in 2013. Its awful and debilitating. I’ve also come down with other mysterious illnesses. I am as well suffering from fibromyalgia. I had a doctor tell me it is not real, it is a go too name when Doctors do not knows what’s wrong and where the pain is all coming from. It’s been almost a year since I’ve been to work. I have optic neuritis with permanent damage to my right eye. I have headaches almost everyday, some turn into migraines. The bursitis in my hips, is unbearable and was told, no shots. I’m either packed in heat or ice to calm the nerves down. The pain in my hands and arms is… Read more »

Can’t wait for the series, I’ve been suffering over a year, hospitalized twice, misdiagnosed, than catch an infectious disease in the hospital, 3rd time back to the hospital for 10 days , visiting an infectious disease specialist weekly, now suffering for over a year, I feel I’ll never be the same. strong and expensive medications, abusing my all over health and nothing left from my social security. No nurse response I experienced a bad fall resulting in injury. Seen doctors for my injury, may need surgery. All this pain and suffering is do to others, where are my rights.
Yes I seen this on TNT and I would like to ask how to go about getting help with my conditions that no one can seem to figure out..I thought it was Hasimoto disease or graves disease but new symptoms keep appearing
NO I will not watch this series. I was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer, and found out three years later that this was a lie. I have no help to correct this problem, and this problem happens more often than not. I have had over six people die within my community from chasing the cure. These people spent every penny they had, lost their homes, their jobs, to chase chemo cure’s all over the country. All of them died without dignity, pooping and vomiting themselves to death. Let alone the pain from the chemo is worse than the pain… Read more »
