Today, the cable channel also announced a fourth season renewal for the Chesapeake Shores series. There will be just six episodes this time around. Could that be an indication that the TV show will be replaced by one or more movies that focus on other characters? We’ll have to wait and see.

Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey to Star in Spin-off Based on Characters From “Chesapeake Shores”
Hallmark Channel announces it has greenlit a spin-off movie based on characters from its original series “Chesapeake Shores.” The world of “Chesapeake Shores” will expand into the movie genre with more stories from the O’Brien sisters, Abby, Bree and Jess, played by Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey, respectively. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ bi-annual Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
“Our viewers have fallen in love with the O’Brien sisters, characters filled with pure joy, humor and heart,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We are excited to dive deeper into their roles and shed more light on each of their journeys as these women balance romance, friendship, and family.”
The movie is based on characters from the novels Chesapeake Shores by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods. Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey will reprise their roles of Abby O’Brien, Bree O’Brien and Jess O’Brien.
With the winter weather dreary in Chesapeake Shores and their own love lives in a complicated state, Abby (Ory), Bree (Ullerup) and Jess (Mailey), adventure to Rome for the wedding of a childhood friend. While in Rome, they discover the wedding plans are in complete chaos and the bride may have a case of pre-wedding jitters because she has gone missing. In an attempt to find the bride, the O’Brien sisters scour the sites of Rome and work to create a happily ever after, while ultimately realizing the romance they each deserve back home in Chesapeake Shores.

I’m really annoyed with Hallmark. They hook you on these shows then dump the show. I have loved all the shows and feel very upset when they cancel the series. 6 episodes is ridiculous. There should be 16 episodes. The movie is fine but don’t sacrifice the series for a movie. If they keep doing this I am going to stop watching Hallmark all together: rather not get hooked at all. I pretty much watch this channel exclusively but I’m tired of getting let down.
I think it’s a good idea to have the movie, but I like all the characters and am more interested in seeing more than six episodes. My whole family looks forward to watching it on Sundays and I was so surprised when this week it said next week is the final episode of the season. Only 6 episodes….. Please keep the series going! So sad it is only 6 episodes – this is my ‘summer’ go to for “me time!” Please don’t end the series!
Skip the movie and make more episodes per season. Really feel short changed by only 6 episodes this year.

I am truly disappointed this season is only 6 episodes. How are the characters developing in this short time? The way things look now, Abby and Trace will not be together by the end of the season, and that was the core of this show. I don’t want a movie in Rome with just the sisters. That’s ridiculous because other characters are so invested in the show.
Having a movie would be good but nothing needs to be changed . Their characters are great just as they are. In the movie the mom and dad should get remarried and have the wedding of their dreams . Jess and David getting engaged would be awesome and Bree should meet ” the one” in the movie . Abby and Trace could finally work through their problems and get back together . Id prefer they forget the movie and keep the series. All of the characters are great, this is a great series. Disappointed that there are only 6 episodes in Season 4
Looking forward to anything new from Chesapeake Shores! Still waiting for Season 3 to air……we live in British Columbia where the show is filmed but it airs in the States before it airs here. Season 2 ended on Nov 2017. Any chance you can let us know when we can look forward to watching it again on the W channel (womans)???
I just now found the series of chesapeak shores on the halmark movies now app and I love the show watched all 3 seasons, glad to know there will be more shows….
I’m really looking forward to the movie it sounds very interesting I love the bond that the sisters the whole family they are amazing people.. I hope the series does not get canceled that would be a bummer I look forward to watching every season and it seems that all the good shows don’t last anymore so please listen to your audience Chesapeake shores is a great family show not to many shows left to watch as a family anymore..
I’d rather them skip the movie idea if it would allow them to make more episodes. 10 episodes of season is not enough and now they are only doing 6 in upcoming season which is pathetic.
The amazing scenery and story lines surrounding the O’Brien family have kept me, and other family and friends looking forward to every new season. The plan, shared, that season 4 will only offer 6 episodes is unfair to the characters and the fans. Films are great, but looking forward to even more than 10 episodes offers a lot of growth for each character to be shared with the fans. Please reconsider more episodes for the 5th season. .
I love Chesapeake Shores. A movie is a great idea but not to replace the series. Keep the series alive!!!

Sound just ok think it would be better with the whole family as that is what makes the show so good. Not happy with only 6 episodes either rather have more episodes of the show. I think that if you make movies and less episodes it will ruin the show just think of that for the future hate for that to happen. Do both movies and the 10 episodes or just the show maybe you can do more episodes rather then movies.
