As you may know, Commander in Chief starred Geena Davis as female President Mackenzie Allen. The series started off strong in the ratings but was then plagued by production issues which resulted in declining viewership.
Soonafter ABC announced the cancellation of the struggling freshman series, word came out that Chief and the show’s characters may return in the form of a made-for-tv movie. ABC chief Steve McPherson was reportedly in talks with seriescreator Rod Lurie and hoped that a decision would be reached over the summer. Well, it looks like we won’t have to wait that long.
In an appearance last night on ABC’s late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, guest Geena Davis announced that there would indeed be a two-hour movie. She didn’t offer any further details but fans of the White House drama are elated.
The actress was on the show promoting the upcoming Commander in Chief season one release on DVD. Davis joked that she refused to step down out of office, has been storing the White House sets in her garage and has been filming scenes for Chief just in case. Who says that politics can’t be funny?
PLEASE bring Commander in Chief Back. We love it.
I Really loved CIC, I am so upset. It was a GREAT show with a lot of potential. If ABC would not have never stopped giving it and change the time it would have all been find. I just came back form FYE from buying part 2 and I encourage eveybody to but it in oder to support CIC. I am glad they are going to make a movie, but I am still piss off at ABC. God, that show was the best in a long time.
Hey My wife and I totally agree with everyone that said It would be nice if another network would pick it up and continue a great tv series.
I worked evening, but was off one night and my wife ask me to sit down and watch Commander and Chief with her and I fell in love with the show. Anyway I hope they take everyone’s advise that love Commander and Chief and most of all think of their viewers opinions.

What is the world coming to when you cancel such an awesome show like Commander in Chief? Come on, they had Emmy nominations and so much more. This was a horrible idea. ABC really let so many people down, especially woman.

These was my favorite shows and now they are GONE.
Please consider putting Commander in Chief back on the air….I haven’t enjoyed a program so much in years!
I LOVED Commander in Chief!! I counted down until it came back on after its break. Please bring it back – or please, some other network, pick it up!!!

In the search box type in Steve McPherson and it will take you to the Jack Meyers column he writes for M.V. He has direct access to McPherson and will forward your comments. LETS GET COMMANDER IN CHIEF BACK ON THE AIR!!!!
I can’t believe such a wonderful show was yanked!!!
This was a combination of a solid stroryline, great characters and wonderful actors to fill the roles. Commander in Chief appealed to not only adults but teens as well. My 13 yr. old son never missed it!!! This was a real mistake… It seems that just when a network gets a quality show, they pull it. God willing, another network with some smarts will pick this up!!!
BOOOOOOO for pulling a FANTASTIC show!!!!
Is this ratings…or politics?????

Come on!! Mackenzie Allen, Nathan Templeton, Rod, Horace, Rebecca, Jim Gardner, Kelly, Warren Keaton, Every single person is important!!!! It is not fair they go out! Was the very best serie ever presented. The best one about Politics, and people who care for politics liked it too. Is not fair that Geena or Madame President can’t come back. If there is any posibility to bring it back to the T.V. let me know my mail is mvargasp777@hotmail.com and be sure I’ll do till imposible to bring it back. Geena, you’re not dead, not while I keep presuring for your return!… Read more »
I had completely stopped watching network primetime shows until Commander In Chief, Invasion & a few other quality programs came along (so had most people I know – I am 56 years old and grew up in the days when all the family could gather around the tv and not get embarrased or insulted by profane language, nudity & sex exploitation). Now that they have been cancelled, it’s back to cable-at-night. As popular as these series were, I can not begin to understand what kind of thinking the major networks are doing. But I bet soon they will go from… Read more »
This is the first show of its caliber with a strong actress as the lead. I enjoyed the show immensly.
The chemistry of the actors, the story itself is a wonderful potion for primetime tv. ABC, just when I thought you guys had it right. You guys had shows on every time slot leading ratings. Before last year, ABC was non-existent to me. You guys there got rid of the Dennis Leary show, The Job. STUPID MOVE. You see what the man is doing now right? Rescue Me. DUMMIES. Get it together. Bring back Commander in Chief.
word.
i agree with evry one except for that idiot john caldwell who commented that garbage (scroll up) i loved this show. BRING IT BACK
I’m so depressed to learn that it’s been cancelled. It was the ONLY show I regularly made the time to watch. Geena Davis is great as the president. Another network must pick it up!
this is a great show. I can not believe people rather watch trash then to watch great acting and a show that deals with real
life stores. please bring it back. we need more stores on strong roles that women play.
