We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

CSI:NY in my opinion is the best one! After Grissom left the original and now Catherine its boring and Miami is just weird!
I am truly sorry to hear that some of the CSI’s are going to be cancelled…I love all three and I really do not want to see CSI New York leave. I love them all and I don’t want to hear that. I am going along with Bev, I am sick of reality shows on every channel. Please do not cancel the show.
I would love another season of CSI:NY.
Yes, Please renew for another year or more. I like all the CSI’s but Miami could use some more interesting shows. There must be something in Miami beside Cuban drug smugglers. If they take CSI’s off it will give the network another excuse to fill the slots with inane and senseless sit coms or (non) reality shows. BIG ZEEERO!
The only programs left with any interest is Person of Interest, Blue Bloods and The Mentalist. If they go they can take my TV also. I won’t be needing it.
I have to agree. with Bev about the reality shows. Maybe the CSI’s cause too many people to think and get involved, but the reality shows stink and are not a “reality to me.”
As a boomer i have money to spend also and I am so tired of 18-49 year olds deciding what I get to see on TV!
Don’t cancel … Love it!
I agree with some previous comments that the original CSI was “the best” until Grissom left, followed by Warrick, then Sara for a while, and now Kathryn is gone. Now it doesn’t seem to have the same charisma. Would like to see if the writers can pull it back together. As for CSI NY and CSI Miami, my wife and I still enjoy watching the series. Would like to see continuing seasons as long as the writers can still provide good plots .. if not, then it will be time to end). By the way, the cross show episodes were… Read more »
Do not cancel the show
Move it to Sundays and cancel CSI: Miami (Caruso is a joke).
I always record csi ny. I was so mad that it’s not on tonight. I watch a gifted man, csi ny and blue bloods. And that’s all the shows I watch on Friday. Please don’t cancel this show. It is so much better then the other csi’s.
Please keep it running! It’s a good show. It’s better than the others.
No! Please don’t take any of the CSIs away, I’ve been a devoted follower of them all and will give up CBS if they cancel any of them.
I definately think it should be renewed for at least one more season. CSI: New York is tied for my favorite show with CSI: Miami. I would hate to see the show stop after this season. I have grown incredibly fond of the characters.
Put CSI back where it belongs!! That Under Cover Boss STINKS. Leave Friday Nites ALONE
