We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

I HOPE YOU WON’T CANCEL CSI-NY….LOVE THE SHOW
KIT
Don’t take CSI NY off, If you want to take a CSI off take the Miami version. Put NY in the time slot of Miami before to cancel the show. If I miss a show I watch it on demand the next day.
CSI-NY is my favorite show. CBS you would be stupid to cancel the show. It has a good 4 to 5 years left. What you should do is move the show to Tuesday nights. There is nothing good on Tuesday nights except Last Man Standing. I watched 20 minutes of the Gifted Man when it first came out and I thought it was awful. That show should be cancelled. I love Gary Sinise and I think he is a fantastic actor and a great humanitarian.
How can you live with yourself by cancelling a great show.
Please do not take CSI New York off the air. It is the best of the CSI. My husband and I loved it on the Friday night slot between The Gifted Man and Blue Blood. It is our best night for TV.
DON’T TAKE AWAY MY GOOD SHOW–CSI NEW YORK. I love all the CSI shows and I really love the cast. That is the only good program on Friday nights. Now my Fridays will be like Saturday–nothing to watch. Please keep this show on.
Big mistake to cancel csi/ny.
Of ALL the CSI shows, CSI NY is my favorite. YES, it was moved to Fri opposite Fringe which is too much for CSI to get market share. Blue Bloods, also very good is on at 10 pm, so if it has to be Friday then it should knock out Gifted Man. This presents no competition. What about Monday? There is currently nothing worthwhile. Saturday would even be better. Mystery is good but not great. You guys ALWAYS take off the best shows. Get rid of Survivor. There are older people who don’t give a damn about spoiled brats trying… Read more »
In fact I think that comedy and stupid pet tricks are healthier content than gore, blood, psycho and sicko stuff they offer on CSI:NY. But you have to be one to enjoy that kind of the overused dysfunction garbage.
My stomach tumbles inside-out every time when Sinise bends his neck over some half naked torched female corpse and looks down with that psychedelic glance.
What an old vulture, he should do some horror movies instead…

The crew is generally too old and all story lines are boring and lame. Gary Sinise is maybe in favor of older population, but younger people have nothing to connect to. Sorry to say, but – cancel.
You must keep CSI NY. I watch all three of them, and like them all for different reasons.
You are always talking about the 18-49 demographic, well I am 64 which is beyond that.
But I am still a loyal fan and consumer. If the people who run the network are as smart as they think they are they should know that the people over 49 are the ones who have kept CBS number one for all these years. Also The Gifted Man is ok but does not compare to CSI NY!!!
Cancel the inane “Blue Bloods” instead. You know–the one where they solve crimes by getting messages from God. How idiotic.
They should didn’t cancel this show I like this show it would be fucked up
really!!
I love CSI NY!!!!! I like Sela Ward as an actress but I must agree when Melina Kanakaredes left the show changed. I definitely agree that this csi should not be the first to be cancelled. The original csi is my least favorite at this time but with the new casting is becoming more interesting. Then csi Miami has some interesting episodes but I still like csi ny the best. There are much worse watches on tv than any csi’s and CBS has ended some of my favorite watches, but this season I think they have some of the best… Read more »
I have enjoyed the show more since Sela Ward has become a part of it! She fits right in with the cast and I hope the show lasts for at least one more season. CSI – Vegas is still a favorite of mine even though many originals have left, the ones that are left are still great! CSI – Miami….never did get into that show, the characters seemed shallow and David Caruso was too “shoot-em-up” and less lab geek. Too pompous for my taste.
Not a fan of Caruso either.
It is a big mistake to cancel one of the best shows on the TV. I saw the new show the Gifted man and it is not a the same level as CSI New York. Looks like that they want to cancel another CSI. If the network wants to change CSI shows it has to be with a better one, and I doubt they have a better one. Think twice before you loose your ratings.
