Good news for Deadwood fans. Star Ian McShane says HBO has the script for the series’ upcoming revival movie, TVLine reports.
For years now, news of a Deadwood revival has circulated but progress has been slow. Last year, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said creator David Milch was working on a script for a TV movie follow-up and McShane expressed interest in filming soon. The original series ran for three seasons before ending in 2006. The cast also included Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, Jim Beaver, and John Hawkes.
Now, McShane says there is a script for a two-hour Deadwood movie and HBO has it:
[A] two-hour movie script has been delivered to HBO. If they don’t deliver [a finished product], blame them. … We’d all love to do it… It would be nice to see all of the old gang again.”

Yes please! I just started watching the series on Amazon after a friend and my own mother raved about it. So mine are fresh eyes on a series that ended 11 yrs ago. Crazy. That should be enough of a sign for you on the movie being well received. People are still waiting and wanting so many years since:)
It is a a bit of a conundrum as to why one would end such a fine television series. Casting, story lines, production and direction were all top notch.
I missed Deadwood during it’s original run on HBO, but finally got to watch the entire three seasons on dvd this past week. I couldn’t believe my luck in finally discovering this masterpiece. The setting, the characters, the dialogue, the camera angles, the surprising plot twists… I couldn’t not watch this one of kind cinematic work of art. Yes, I would definitely watch and purchase to own a Deadwood movie.
Hello all I am a huge fan of deadwood. Its ashame that the series only ran for 3 seasons. Why? I believe there are fans of old west movies still out there. “I am one of them.” I am really happy to hear the progress on the movie and you can bet i will ad it to my deadwood collection.
