Let’s not fool ourselves. The Deception TV show has been cancelled by ABC after just one season. The mid-season replacement made its debut on March 11, 2018, but even smoke and mirrors couldn’t disguise its lackluster Nielsen ratings performance.
An ABC crime drama from creator Chris Fedak, Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as illusionist Cameron Black, with Ilfenesh Hadera, Lenora Crichlow, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins, and Vinnie Jones. Cameron is rocketing to the top, when scandal derails his show and his twin’s life. Now, this magician uses his tradecraft to help the Feds apprehend some of the most elusive criminals in the world and hopes to prove his brother, Jonathan (Cutmore-Scott), is an innocent man.
Jack Cutmore-Scott is an appealing actor. So far though, it seems he hasn’t found just the right vehicle. This is his second series in as many years not to survive past its freshman outing. Fox cancelled his comedy, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life after just one season in 2016.

In total, there were four single-season dramas on the Alphabet’s chopping block today: Marvel’s Inhumans, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Crossing, and Deception.
Variety has confirmed the Deception cancellation.

As I have been saying for years. The “Networks” are the place good shows die. Look at most of the shows on Sunday Nights the Big 4 have on, many of them end up being canceled because people are NOT watching the networks on Sunday night, they are watching Cable Networks. Two great Sunday night shows that have the displeasure of going up against NCIS: Los Angelos and both Walking Dead Shows will be canceled, Deception and Timeless. Why watch new tv shows if they are always prematurely canceled not even giving us the respect to do so after the storyline is closed but often after a frustrating cliffhanger! This show is fun and interesting, great cast and stories. Hate ABC nit watching any new show from ABC if they don’t renew Deception.
I very much enjoy this program. Found the actors and story lines intriguing. Also loved the magic. Never missed an episode.
Best new show in a very long time! I think 10pm on a Sunday night was not smart! – show it earlier or on a different day – Very bad decision on ABC’s part to cancel this show!!
We don’t agree with your decision to cancel Deception. Really like the show; it’s clever and entertaining. Please give it another chance, maybe in different time slot and day.
If they did that, it would probably be successful. They have so many awful shows coming back, they don’t have a spot to put a good show like this.
Just yesterday ABC canceled some really good shows, Deception, The Crossing, and a really cute one, Kevin Saves the World, Probably.
In the next few days, NBC will probably be canceling Timeless.
Wish this would not be cancelled. So tired of the good shows not returning.

Deception was the most creative, intelligent show in a LONG TIME. Script, Acting, clever, great sets, creativity, fresh stories for a change and low and behold, it’s cancelled. ARE YOU KIDDING? The heck w/ Nielsen ratings, ask all of us who watch real TV. ABC Keeps the junk and cancels Deception, how disappointing Network!!!!

You had a good show here several years ago titled Forever and canceled it and replaced it with a lousy show that was only on a weeks that was terrible, that was about two lovers that were killers. ABC canceled a good show like Forever , even ABC ‘s producer liked the show. Now ABC is doing it again with
