Let’s not fool ourselves. The Deception TV show has been cancelled by ABC after just one season. The mid-season replacement made its debut on March 11, 2018, but even smoke and mirrors couldn’t disguise its lackluster Nielsen ratings performance.
An ABC crime drama from creator Chris Fedak, Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as illusionist Cameron Black, with Ilfenesh Hadera, Lenora Crichlow, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins, and Vinnie Jones. Cameron is rocketing to the top, when scandal derails his show and his twin’s life. Now, this magician uses his tradecraft to help the Feds apprehend some of the most elusive criminals in the world and hopes to prove his brother, Jonathan (Cutmore-Scott), is an innocent man.
Jack Cutmore-Scott is an appealing actor. So far though, it seems he hasn’t found just the right vehicle. This is his second series in as many years not to survive past its freshman outing. Fox cancelled his comedy, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life after just one season in 2016.

In total, there were four single-season dramas on the Alphabet’s chopping block today: Marvel’s Inhumans, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Crossing, and Deception.
Variety has confirmed the Deception cancellation.

I wish abc hadn’t deleted deception because it really was a great show and just because they didn’t get the ratings they wanted doesn’t mean that they should have deleted it. Me and my daughter were loyal watchers wether it was on the TV or on the app we watched it all and loved it.
This was the only show that got me watching actual television again instead of streaming from Netflix so i guess thanks for killing my interest in actual tv shows. I really wish this show had been continued and all i can hope for now is some miracle that someone else will continue it somewhere.
They need to keep coming out with shows it’s the best show I have seen in a very long time. All these new shows are alright but Deception is child friendly.
Please go for season 2 it’s going to bring a grand success for you guys..so, rethink
This was a great show that should have never been taken off the air. ABC has put on some ridiculous shows like “The Proposal.” I can’t see the logic. Deception was a wonderful show that had drama, suspense and romance. Please put it back on the air!
This show was ORIGINAL – what a novel concept nowadays when networks are bringing back shows that have already been done. I enjoyed the story line and the mixing of investigations and magic. I had looked forward to the writing and acting getting better as it matured as a show. It deserved to be promoted better than it was promoted. I would love for the powers in charge to reconsider and let this promising original have another season. So very tired of reality shows and old shows being redone. PLEASE RECONSIDER.

I love deception! We need a season 2. It cannot end like this!
My family enjoyed watching Deception. The magic made it fun. You should get rid of reality shows that are not reality at all. Bring it back.

The Deception series was an amazing series filled with wit, humour and above all, some of the best illusions/magic tricks I’ve ever seen. It’s future can’t be deemed by ratings as it’s just starting out! I think ABC should give it a chance, let it grow and develop, become stronger the way hundreds of other series have been able to do so.
Please don’t cancel Deception! I loved the show!!! I’m loyal to ABC. Please bring it back for a second season!
Please bring the show back. It’s unfair to have a show taken off because of its ratings. What about the people that did watch the show we enjoyed it. I love it so much and wish season 2 would air.
