Telly’s Take
With all the death and destruction on this show, you might expect to find this humble vulture in the midst of a gluttonous gorge. It seems, however, that Designated Survivor could find itself safe for a second season, despite its performance. Mirroring its lead character’s journey, this TV series finds itself in its present position, largely due to the catastrophic state of ABC’s drama slate.
Although it has been on hiatus since mid-December, Designated Survivor will not return until March 8th. That means the network is keeping it off the air, during Nielsen’s crucial February ratings sweeps. In addition, back in December, Jeff Melvoin boarded as the third showrunner — replacing Jon Harmon Feldman, who in turn, replaced Amy B. Harris. While I’ll remain on my perch for now, I’m keeping an eye on this one. It looks to me as though the network is trying to shore up this series and doing what they can to help it be a success.

What do you think? Should the Designated Survivor TV show have been renewed for season two? How would you feel if ABC had cancelled this TV show, instead?
Please renew. We love it.
Are you kidding? Kroger Sutherland is fantastic and this is an intelligent thought provoking show. I can’t believe you’re even considering not doing Season 2
Just because our politics are dumbed down, remember there are 3 million more out here who are smarter and love smart TV! DO NOT CANCEL DESIGNATED SURVIVOR!!

Keep it on! Suspenseful, likeable characters and compared to the “other” crap on its at least better than most
This is one of the finest TV shows currently being aired! How can it possibly be cancelled? It seems the threat of cancellation only occurs when a show is smart, brilliantly written, and acted?!! Are the only shows kept, dumb down comedies? I can only hope it IS renewed and therefore becomes reflective of an audience thirsty for and appreciative of well written real political intrigue. Everyone I know tunes in every week, or binge watches online! Where do you get your statistics? Ensure your audiences by stepping it up with new found excellent TV!- Enough with infomercials and fluff——-Who… Read more »
Best show I’ve seen in a long time. PLEASE RENEW
Mary Parafin, you have hit the nail on the head regarding Designated Survivor. Maybe the critics of Designated Survivor don’t like it because we need a big political upset as portrayed in D S. and Trump just might provide that.
WE LOVE “Designated Survivor” and are eagerly awaiting Season Two!! I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t renew it — it’s a HIT, and we love Keicer Sutherland as well. PLEASE COME BACK SOON!!
Everyone in our house loves the show Designated Survivor and will be heartsick if it is canceled!!!
Love this show, finally something that makes watching TV exciting again!
As a senior citizen attending classes, a hot topic of conversation in me U.S. Constitution class was whether or not there was such a thing as a designated survivor. The show has proven to be not only good entertainment but a great stepping stone to learning more about our government for we seniors!
Favorite show ever! I know of 30 people who feel the same.
Love the show. I don’t feel it has anything to do with real life. I love the action and the twist on the story line.
Please do not cancel one of our favorite shows we are starting to lose the more intellectual shows on tv lately.
Cancel it. Too many clichés. President’s son who refuses to grow up, destructive behavior. Mold in the White House, one man knows, but won’t tell because the bad guys have kidnapped his son. Same old stuff I’ve been watching on TV for the past 20 years. I stopped watching in the middle of the 8th episode. Please come up with something more original ideas or cancel it.
Sure hope they get that mold out of the White House.
