ABC has decided to run the season (likely series) finale of Detroit 1-8-7 this Sunday, March 20th, at 10pm. The freshman drama is airing on a special night because it was pre-empted by a 20/20 special featuring an interview with Charlie Sheen a couple weeks ago.
Detroit 1-8-7 is, of course, highly unlikely to return for season two. The TV series’ ratings have been terrible and just about anything else the network has put on in its place has performed better. It’s currently averaging a very disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.64 million viewers. That makes Detroit 1-8-7 the lowest-rated scripted series still on the network. Tuesday’s installment registered just a 1.2 in the demo.
Here’s the finale description from ABC:
SEASON FINALE
FITCH FACES OFF AGAINST HIS RUTHLESS NEW YORK ADVERSARY, ALBERT STRAM, WHILE HIS LIFE, THAT OF HIS SON AND THE REST OF THE SQUAD HANG IN THE BALANCE, ON THE SEASON FINALE OF ABC’S “DETROIT 1-8-7” Michael Imperioli’s Real Life Son, Vadim, Continues in His Guest Starring Role as Fitch’s Son, Bobby
“Blackout” – Fitch’s past comes back to haunt him when his old New York nemesis, Albert Stram, makes his presence known in Detroit just as the veteran detective is enjoying spending time with his son, Bobby. Stram’s not so subtle threats shake the usually unflappable Fitch. Meanwhile, the other detectives are called to the scene of a horrific homicide to find an entire family brutally murdered. Fitch tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together and it leads him to a devastating conclusion. With his back against the wall, Fitch asks Washington to protect Bobby, then leads Longford and Mahajan on an extremely dangerous mission to trap Stram; but which side of the law will he come down on in order to save his family and those in the squad? Meanwhile, Longford has second thoughts about his retirement; but is it too late? It’s a crucial turning point in the lives of all the detectives, on the Season Finale of “Detroit 1-8-7,” SUNDAY, MARCH 20 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Note: This program replaces “Brothers & Sisters: Call Mom” which moves to March 27.

Cotrona as Detective John Stone, Jon Michael Hill as Detective Damon Washington, Shaun Majumder as Detective Vikram Mahajan, Natalie Martinez as Detective Ariana Sanchez and Erin Cummings as Dr. Abbey Ward.

“Blackout” was written by Jason Richman and directed by Kevin Hooks.

I agree… what moron cancelled this show?? Viewers are more interested in stupid mindless T&A reality shows than intelligent drama… egad!
Love this show! One of the only shows worth watching on ABC. I hope it’s given a fighting chance to get the word out about how great the cast is. Come on ABC… don’t cancel this one.
I loved this show, I watched it every night it was on, I don’t understand how the ratings were not good. This show is very realistic, it has a great cast, and is very well written…..please keep don’t take it off, give another chance, or let another network pick it up…USA, TNT, that would be good.
the best show on tv reminds me of nypd blue please don,t take it ofgive it a chance or give it to tnt they know drama
A great show. We look forward to it and set our schedule so we won’t miss it. One of the most realistic shows ever, especially in its first year. Give it a chance and promote it and it will hook a good audience. Maybe the scheduled timing on Tuesday at 10 pm was a challenge for a new show against some shows that were already grooved with a seasoned audience. Whatever time slot you would have it in, I will set my schedule so I won’t miss it.
I love D-187. I think another network, like USA or TNT, should pick up Detroit 1-8-7. I know a lot of people are in agreement that season two is strongly desired with most people that have seen the show even a few times. It’s well-written, excellently-cast, and true to Detroit’s culture (I am a Michigander that lives twenty minutes from the heart of Detroit). +1 VOTE FOR SEASON TWO!!!!!!! I watched this show entirely on Hulu.com. I think most D-187 viewers watched it online. That is probably what hurt the network ratings, but the network just has to understand that… Read more »
Please do not cancel this show. The characters and script are first rate. As with many shows, this one needs time.
Best new show by far. Similar in nature to another tough cop show, Homicide Life on the Street. But up against the CBS juggernaut of NCIS, NCIS LA, and the Good Wife, it had little chance.
Don’t know what the issue is…we have been emotionally invested in this show since it began
This is the best show on TV right now. Great cast, great cinematography, cool story lines and a gritty real life feel to it. This show is right up there or above the likes of NYPD Blue and Hill Street Blues. What really confounds me is the fact that the “new” Hawaii 5-0 is considered “the best new series on TV” …….. what an awful, ridiculous, unrealistic, poorly cast show that thing is. I hope ABC stands behind Detroit 187 and keeps it going. It is destine to be a huge success.
This show was great! I will miss it, especially with all of the other crap shows on TV today.
It started off slow but by the last episode, I was hooked. I love this show and would love to see it return.
Love this show. I missed the finale. Where can I find it?
Love, love, love this show…best new show on tv for the last 5 years or so…..brng it back and give it a chance…stand behind this show which is sure to be a classic if supported by the network and fans…..acting superb….realistic and riveting….
Great Show. What moron canceled this show?
