ABC has decided to run the season (likely series) finale of Detroit 1-8-7 this Sunday, March 20th, at 10pm. The freshman drama is airing on a special night because it was pre-empted by a 20/20 special featuring an interview with Charlie Sheen a couple weeks ago.
Detroit 1-8-7 is, of course, highly unlikely to return for season two. The TV series’ ratings have been terrible and just about anything else the network has put on in its place has performed better. It’s currently averaging a very disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.64 million viewers. That makes Detroit 1-8-7 the lowest-rated scripted series still on the network. Tuesday’s installment registered just a 1.2 in the demo.
Here’s the finale description from ABC:
SEASON FINALE
FITCH FACES OFF AGAINST HIS RUTHLESS NEW YORK ADVERSARY, ALBERT STRAM, WHILE HIS LIFE, THAT OF HIS SON AND THE REST OF THE SQUAD HANG IN THE BALANCE, ON THE SEASON FINALE OF ABC’S “DETROIT 1-8-7” Michael Imperioli’s Real Life Son, Vadim, Continues in His Guest Starring Role as Fitch’s Son, Bobby
“Blackout” – Fitch’s past comes back to haunt him when his old New York nemesis, Albert Stram, makes his presence known in Detroit just as the veteran detective is enjoying spending time with his son, Bobby. Stram’s not so subtle threats shake the usually unflappable Fitch. Meanwhile, the other detectives are called to the scene of a horrific homicide to find an entire family brutally murdered. Fitch tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together and it leads him to a devastating conclusion. With his back against the wall, Fitch asks Washington to protect Bobby, then leads Longford and Mahajan on an extremely dangerous mission to trap Stram; but which side of the law will he come down on in order to save his family and those in the squad? Meanwhile, Longford has second thoughts about his retirement; but is it too late? It’s a crucial turning point in the lives of all the detectives, on the Season Finale of “Detroit 1-8-7,” SUNDAY, MARCH 20 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Note: This program replaces “Brothers & Sisters: Call Mom” which moves to March 27.

I love Detroit 1-8-7. The cast is top-notch and totally believable in their characters. This show reminds me so much of NYPD Blue, which I also loved and faithfully watched through all the character changes and story lines — right to the last episode. Please, please, ABC — give Detroit 1-8-7 another season to catch on. I absolutely hate all the “reality” shows on ABC, but never miss 1-8-7.
DO NOT cancel this show…….It will make it if you schedule it correctly and give it time to get its legs under it….
If Network TV cancels yet another well written, extremely well acted show because they did a shabby job promoting and consistently airing they may as well sell these pilots to cable…. 187 is on par with most cop shows and light years better than LL cool J and the gang, the poser from CSI miami, and the next flavor of the month on Law & Order something Mollina. AIR IT and THEY WILL COME ….187 like the city shows perserverance and staying power when the fabric of any society or organization stays together…it does Detroit well and the city is… Read more »
Live in SE MICHIGAN. I love this show. Its so good. Vadim Imperioli was great as Bobby.
Never miss an episode thanks to my DVR. Best show on. Really hope it’s back next year.
Great Show. Different from the others and much more realistic with real city characters. Keep in for another season.
Please DON’T cancel!!! One of the few last great smart shows left!
Love Detroit 187. Hope it comes back next year. Maybe if they put it at a different hour instead of 10:00 at night. Also it also shouldn’t compete with NCIS Los Angeles, maybe a different day. I usually DVR the show and watch it. Hate missing an espisode.
I love this show, its one of my favorites
Love Detroit 1-8-7. Enjoyed this season. Great writing, character development, and entertaining. Great show, keep this show please.
I hope they keep this show…we love it!
This is a great show! ABC should give it another season for viewers to get to see the great acting and characters. Michael Amiliori is wonderful as Fitch. The season finale was lacking in some spots, but most of the episodes have been very good – they grab your attention. Keep it going!
I love this show and the characters really grow on you. Lots of detective work but great personal stories. Keep itplease
This is a great show! ABC needs to give it more than one season. Michael Amiliori is great as Fitch – the other characters are also believable. The final episode had a few problems, but most of the episodes have been strong. Keep it going!
My husband and I watch this show every week and we LOVE it! I would hate to see it cancelled. We look forward to seeing it every week. Please give it a chance.
