Grimm has done very well for NBC on Friday nights and is one of their highest-rated dramas. How has Dracula been performing? Is it safe or likely to be cancelled?
Based on the classic Bram Stoker story, Dracula takes place in London. The title character (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) poses as an American entrepreneur while he seeks revenge on those who cursed him. He doesn’t count on falling in love with a woman (Jessica De Gouw) who looks like his deceased wife. Others in the cast include Thomas Kretschmann, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Smurfit, Katie McGrath, and Nonso Anozie.
The series debuted on October 25th to a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.26 million viewers. This was a very respectable performance for a Friday airing.
Unfortunately, the ratings took a big dive in week two and then again in week three, falling to a 0.9 rating with 2.96 million.

After seven episodes, Dracula is now averaging a 1.1 in the demo and 3.46 million viewers. Unless the next few episodes see a good-size gain, the averages will keep dropping.
With ratings like these, it would seem unlikely that NBC would want to order a second season. However, the network has partnered with Sky Living on the series, decreasing their costs. Dracula started airing in the UK on Sky Living last Halloween.
It’s also worth noting that NBC renewed Hannibal last spring and that show drew even worse numbers on Thursdays.
So, essentially, Dracula’s fate could go either way. We’ll have to wait and see whether it will be cancelled or renewed for a second season.
But, what do you think? Do you like Dracula? Do you think it should be renewed or cancelled?
Creepy, deceitful, surprising, and totally addictive. I love it!! Please bring back.
Renew Dracula!! I love this show!!
My brother and I both find the Dracula series as being one of the best shows on TV. I am a big melodrama fan and Dracula was my all time favorite. When I heard NBC was going to put on a series, I was thinking “it’s about time someone made a series of Dracula!”. In my opinion this series is the “smartest” thing any of the networks came up with. So NBC, don’t SCREW IT UP by cancelling it!!!!
Excellent show. Please keep it going. I love the period series and the new twist on Dracula’s ability to be seen during the day. It has a lot of possibilities and the cast is amazing.
Time of air ratings are a misnomer. I NEVER get to watch pm shows d/t my schedule. I always catch them on Comcast as soon as they are available after. Dracula is a keeper.
renew Dracula !!!!!!!!!!
Please Renew Dracula!!!!!!! Love it!!!
LUV this show!!! I have a crazy busy schedule, but always made time for it. I keep checking to see when it will be back! PLEASE continue!!!
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t cancel Dracula. Finally, I got my husband to watch something with me that I like and we have been watching it since the first show. Please, don’t take it off. If you take it off, I will never ever like NBC ever again.
I have enjoyed the twists and turns of this show. The cast is very good and I want to see where the story takes us next. Please renew Dracula!
please DO NOT CANCEL DRACULA !!!
Love LOVE this Dracula!!
Well Dracula has been released here in Brazil, I love it, I have already watched the first season, I want it to have a second season or, at the very least, a final episode. I feel truly disrespected with the fact that they start a show and don t end it. Should I tell people not to watch Dracula here in Brazil because it will have no end? TVs treat us, the audience, like trash, they start a show then think that one million people isn t enough to keep it going and they don t even bother ending it….
Rosanna, the show is not cancelled. Its fate is uncertain, and surely it would be silly to announce a cancelation when just now is being aired in many countries (Portugal, Italy, Southafrica, Brazil, all these had their premiere in March 2014)… In Germany VOX bought the show and has to set a release date yet. Is that the reason they are reluctant to openly announce a cancelation that has been decided already? It might be. But there’s another way to see it. The show may well get another season, as NBC executives said last January Dracula is a big seller… Read more »
No i want it back…i watched every episode….I want to see more..the cast is exelent..and i want to see how van helsing and harker fight dracula…they left us hanging
You just can’t remove a show like Dracula. I’ve watched Grimm and then Dracula since the show aired. I was psyched when I first of it airing on NBC. I think highly of this network. Don’t ruin it for all the viewers out there who are HOOKED.
