It looks like the magic is over for the three ladies of Eastwick. ABC network has decided against ordering any additional episodes of the supernatural series, effectively cancelling it.
Eastwick revolves around three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. Soonafter, mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to town and unleashes powers within the ladies. The cast also includes Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright.
The show got off to a slow start on September 23rd with a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.5 million total viewers. The second installment fell to a 2.3 in the demo and 6.57 million viewers. The third week fell again to a 1.8 and 5.14 million.

In the weeks that followed, the ratings didn’t get any better and more frequently got worse. Last week, Eastwick hit an all-time low of 1.5 in the demo and 4.4 million.
ABC has opted to pull the show from the schedule for two weeks. This Wednesday, it’s replaced by the Country Music Awards. Next week, it’s being bumped for an interview special called In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson. Though Eastwick is scheduled to return on Thanksgiving eve with a new episode, the supernatural drama won’t be around for long after that.
ABC has decided not to order any additional episodes of Eastwick, effectively cancelling the series after 13 episodes. It’s unknown if the last episode will wrap up the ongoing storylines. For now, ABC plans to air all six remaining installments but, if the ratings keep declining, the network could easily pull the series before that happens.

This is so disappointing of ABC to cancel such a good show. I was going to wait for Season 2 next year. I think that the advertising of the show could be better. That way more people would get to know the show and enjoy it more. My roommate and I watch every episode. I don’t understand why this show is not getting any hits. I will be watching the remainder of the season and only hoping that there will be a second.
I have been a huge fan of this show and I am really sad to see it cancelled. I had no idea that the show existed and actually stumbled upon it by accident, so they network did not do a good job at marketing this show because I would have known about it *yes I am one of those that gives every new show a chance*. They should really reconsider marketing this show and getting more episodes! So sorry this show is being cancelled…I really enjoyed the adaptation of the novel. Anyway they might reconsider?
What a shame they canceled the show. Eastwick was a nice change of pace, kind of a drama/comedy, and thank goodness, not another reality show I dislike reality shows, but understand that they are much cheaper to produce so networks like them. It’s all about the dollar and bottom line. If the newwork would allow more time for a following to develop the show would pick up viewers. I think its a great show – I hate all reality tv – I dispise all talk shows – Every show I like seems to be getting canceled… while shows I find totally stupid are continued! Whats wrong here!

This means that the only show I get to watch Wednesday now will be Glee and Middle. – then its back to my computer.
Iam here righting to tell you that i think that the abc network is makeing a huge mistake. The reason they lost viewers is because it is the holidays. No body has time for t.v. when it is the holidays. I thought it could be the next charmed. As a British fan of Eastwick im very sad to see the series not returning , i was looking forward to see what happens , I think the acting is brilliant and it is even better than the feature length film. All i can say is i wish i would return xx

My wife and I watched this show every week. I’m not a big TV watcher, but I really looked forward to Eastwick every week. I can’t believe the show ended as it did with all 3 girls in peril and leaving us hanging in suspense. What a RIP!
What ever are U doing? I/many of us love this show! Loved so many shows including Lipstick Jungle and they got. cxl’d. Who why does this happen? Ya know. Scrubs came back after being cxl’d. And now Eastwick is cxl’d after one of our favorite shows, Lipstick Jungle was cxl’d. Honestly…what are you thinking? Maybe/hopefully..one of the other networks will pick this show up. Why are you letting a great show slip away?
Just found out tonight from the Jay Leno show that the series was canceled. My wife and I looked forward to each Wednesday evening. We taped many of the shows to view again at a later date. Poor decision by a network once again. 12/29/09

I’m still thoroughly and completely disappointed and disgusted with ABC for not giving this wonderfully refreshing show more air time, a better time slot and much more promotion!! Hopefully those “top” execs that are making a ridiculous amount of money to obviously do NOTHING but cancel great shows will reconsider and try moving to prehaps a different day and time, maybe at 9 instead of 10.
