It looks like the magic is over for the three ladies of Eastwick. ABC network has decided against ordering any additional episodes of the supernatural series, effectively cancelling it.
Eastwick revolves around three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. Soonafter, mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to town and unleashes powers within the ladies. The cast also includes Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright.
The show got off to a slow start on September 23rd with a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.5 million total viewers. The second installment fell to a 2.3 in the demo and 6.57 million viewers. The third week fell again to a 1.8 and 5.14 million.

In the weeks that followed, the ratings didn’t get any better and more frequently got worse. Last week, Eastwick hit an all-time low of 1.5 in the demo and 4.4 million.
ABC has opted to pull the show from the schedule for two weeks. This Wednesday, it’s replaced by the Country Music Awards. Next week, it’s being bumped for an interview special called In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson. Though Eastwick is scheduled to return on Thanksgiving eve with a new episode, the supernatural drama won’t be around for long after that.
ABC has decided not to order any additional episodes of Eastwick, effectively cancelling the series after 13 episodes. It’s unknown if the last episode will wrap up the ongoing storylines. For now, ABC plans to air all six remaining installments but, if the ratings keep declining, the network could easily pull the series before that happens.
What do you think? Why did Eastwick fail? Do you think ABC will really air all of the 13 episodes?

Shame, shame on ABC for pulling this dirty little trick. Eastwick was fun, relaxing, sexy and the characters had great chemistry. This was the only show I watched on ABC, so as far as I am concerned, the whole ABC station may as well go off the air.
I cannot believe they are canceling this show. It is a huge mistake, it seems like we have nothing good to watch these days and when there is something it gets canceled because they chose to showcase it during the holidays. Almost as if they are doing it with the intention of canceling. I am sure if it would’ve been around a little longer the vibe would’ve caught on. It was funny, witty and the story line was very interesting and clever. I loved this show!
I am so disappointed Eastwick is being cancelled. I really enjoy the show and the cast. Their chemistry together is great. I will really miss this show. It was entertaining & a great show to watch in the evening to relax.
I have watched eastwick since the first episode and have really gotten hooked amongst talk with others that watch the show we all agree it has some soap opera qualities that we all know and love . We would love for abc to reconsider and give the series a little longer air time to try and hook some more viewers
it failed due to absolutely no advertising! great show best on abc
This show is refreshing when you compare it to all the other TV shows that are on now. Some shows just take a little longer to attract the viewers, especially when they deal with supernatural content. Please reconsider and bring it back for one more season. If it hasn’t picked up more viewers by then, then cancel it.
It would be another mistake for ABC to let this show die. My wife and I have watched every episode since day one. We love the entire cast and wouldn’t change a thing. Maybe next time you should promote good shows like Eastwick. We’ll truly miss this show.
Eastwick was a nice weekly chick flick. It was funny, a little sexy, and always entertaining. What it wasn’t was another stupid reality show about vapid people who love to air their dirty laundry, chase a bachelor, or connive to bump off contestants so they can win the prize. It wasn’t a stupid sitcom, and it wasn’t a warped nasty soap opera.
The characters were likable too, and actually nice people, even the cantankerous ones.
American tv programming is really pathetic, and most of the good stuff comes from BBC now anyway.
Once again the networks disappoint me by axing a really good show before it can really catch on with a large enough audience to suit them. This was a fun show to watch. I’m spending more of my time watching shows on TNT and USA. At least you can count on them to be around for awhile.
I’m going to miss this show. It was one of my favorites, darryl is hot.
you absolute muppets another cool show down the drain
Darn it!
