CBS has moved its Elementary TV show all around the schedule. In the seventh season, it returns to Thursday nights, but even if that improves its Nielsen ratings, it won’t influence the network’s decision on whether it will be cancelled or renewed for season eight. This has already been announced as the final installment, so stayed tuned to find out whether Elementary ends on a high note.
An updated take on the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories, the Elementary TV show stars Jonny Lee Miller as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson. The CBS TV series also stars Aidan Quinn as Captain Thomas Gregson and Jon Michael Hill as Detective Marcus Bell, with James Frain joining the seventh and final season as Odin Reichenbach. The story centers on Holmes and Watson, as they investigate the trickiest crimes. Season seven kicks off in London, with Holmes and Watson serving as consultants for Scotland Yard.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

For comparisons: The sixth season of Elementary on CBS averaged a 0.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.786 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Is the Elementary TV series ending too soon or at the right time? If it were up to you, would this CBS TV show be cancelled or renewed for an eighth season?
This is the most intelligent show on network TV. No wonder it is being cancelled. Maybe it can be replaced with yet another ridiculous “reality” show like “Bachelorette on the Moon” or “Big Brother in Antarctica”
I LOVE THIS SHOW… Please keep in going. GREAT CAST.
I like the series but honestly can´t understand why they even decided to come back for this 7th season. Season 6 finale was just great to end the series.
I hope some other network picks it up…too bad Cbs has to put garbage on n not make this work …so love this show renew it
One of the best TV shows ever. Great cast, great acting, great story lines it will truly be missed. Very sad.
I LOVE this show & will be very sad to see it end. I hope another network picks it up so CBS and it’s writers can see it’s loss. New network + new writers = still great show. The cinema would also be great!
Another fantastic show being canceled. I hate that. Pay them. They deserve it.
Once again…where was the common sense? Sherlock brings in his Dad to help with Odin. How would dear old Dad handle the problem? Simple…he would have had him killed. Problem solved. So why didn’t they do that you ask? Elementary my dear Watson…which BTW…Doyle never used that phrase. Anyway the reason. ALL of this is being manipulated by Moriarty! She’s baaaaaccccckkkkk. My thanks to all involved with Elementary. You will be missed but…your work will live forever in Sherlock lore.
July 4th episode made absolutely no sense…pitiful…but…it was a PC masterpiece.
I loved the show prior to season 6. Someone’s opinion is heavily influencing the writing this season. It was always something that was on the cuff, now it’s blatant enough it breaks the 4th wall. I don’t mind subliminal messaging but lots of it wasn’t subliminal.
I just love this show. The writing is great. The acting is great. I’m always left wanting more of the episode. I feel like each episode is left open to where that storyline could be an entire season with recurring cast. Then, each year, Johnny, Lucy, Aidan, John, could of course be the neat and bones for the next season . I dint know what America is missing here, but this show blows me away. It’s a welcome each week for me to cone home and chillax after waiting tables all day in a theme park! Well done! I’d love… Read more »
Johnny Lee Miller will find another vehicle. So will Lucy Lee. Both very talented actors.
Lucy Liu. Apologies.
Consistently well-written, well-acted high-quality TV show. Of course, it’s low-rated. Pearls before swine.
Best show on TV!
Love the show. Hate to see it end. Glad we got as many episodes as we did. Re. the premiere…
After the way things ended last season…why would the Captain have Sherlock’s number & Marcus doesn’t?
