The Exorcist premiered on FOX on Friday night, and one of the original stars of the film is ready to join the series. She just needs to be asked first.
Linda Blair starred in two of The Exorcist films, and she spoke about the new series, starring Geena Davis, in a new interview. According to Digital Spy, she said the following:
“I am looking forward to seeing what they do. They are trying to come up with different scary stories that have to do with the paranormal and exorcism. They keep mentioning my name when they talk about it and I’m like, ‘Stop teasing me. Put up or shut up.’”
Have those involved in the series asked her to appear yet? No. Blair said the following:
“I should be involved but they have never invited me to. So far they have only said it to the press. We wish them all the best, we really do. Geena Davis is a huge fan of it all and I’m a huge fan of hers, so of course I’m going to wish them good luck with it. I don’t want people to fail, that’s not who I am.”

Yes..that would awesome to have Linda Blair on the show that would really boots railings…I love the show anyway.
Along with Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn should continue to play her estranged mother in the series.
I was surprised to see that Angela Rance was really Regan MacNeil grown up. That got me to wondering why Linda Blair was not cast as Angela Rance, that would have been the perfect sequel for those of us who remember the original movie. Geena Davis is doing a wonderful job but I think the the “real” Regan should be Linda Blair.
I was beyond shocked that Gena Davis was Regan MacNeil all grown up. It was a tough pill to swallow! Even though Exorcist 2 was torture to watch for someone who worships Linda Blair and The Exorcist, I don’t think that should be a reason to cast a new Regan! Linda Blair is, and will ALWAYS be Regan MacNeil…ALWAYS!!! Love the show, despite that..and hope and pray with all my heart and soul it gets renewed…and Linda appears in season 2 OFTEN!
Linda Blair would be an excellent cast member. Perhaps Gina Davis could be a fraud as portraying Regan being used by the devil. Linda can return as the real Regan. That could be cool.
Love love the show for sure they should’ve brought in Linda Blair. I hope it comes back for a second season. Linda Blair would’ve been a big draw for the weekly series.
As much as I luv luv luv Gena Davis this was not the roll for her. Her face seemed to have the same expression through the whole season, no animation what so ever. If they were going to start with “what’s Regan doing now” storyline You got to have Linda Blair, no ifs ands or buts.Other than that I liked the show. Not having Blair may cost them the show from returning.
Yes. Linda Blair, post-Exorcist, has been woefully underused and underrated as an actress her entire adult life. Bring her on the show before it might be cancelled. She’ll be great in a role as a psychic who catches on to the malignant forces (human) who are working behind the scenes in positions of power on the show. Fox is on to something especially in light of the recent Presidential election results.
Great show – very well done. Very reminiscent of the iconic movie!!! Well acted with a very realistic vibe. Yes I would have been thrilled if Ellen Bernsten was at the door. Don’t cancel finally a good tv show for the networks.
Love the new series “The Exorcist”. Its well acted, produced and written, very slow and methodical like the original oscar winning movie. I just wish in the last episode the mother at the door was Ellen Burstyn not Sharon Gless. That would of been so cool. Unfortunately the ratings look as if the show may NOT succeed which is sad. FOX has done an excellent job with the series. The problem is the tv show is a lot like the movie, slow moving (which I love), it has substance. No, that was Sharon Gless (Cagney & Lacey), she is the mother. Geena Davis is Linda Blair’s part Regan. Ellen Burstyn originally played Sharon Gless’s part.
