What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, First Dates comes from executive producers Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman. Drew Barrymore narrates the dating reality TV series, which is based on the UK program of the same name. First Dates takes place in a Chicago restaurant, with restaurateur Sandro Coppola serving as Maitre d’. The action centers on different couples who have just met, as they go out on their first dates. The participants — from all over the US — are of various ages and backgrounds. At the end of each hour, the audience learns whether the daters plan to see one another again.
Season One Ratings
The first season of First Dates is averaging a 0.71 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.41 million viewers. Find out how First Dates stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
As of December 10, 2025, First Dates has not been cancelled or renewed for a second season. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
First Dates premiered with low ratings and the numbers haven’t gotten any better. However, they have remained pretty consistent. In the current market, I think that may be enough to get First Dates a second chance.

I really liked this show. Please renew!
Despite my wife and I being much older than the “target” audience, 18-49, not sure if I should give our exact ages—-suffice it to say we both are old enough to remember the Assassination of President JFK–we both very much loved the “First Dates” and very much looked forward to each week’s episode. I guess it helped having us think again about our own FIRST DATE, how kind of awkward in the beginning we both communicated. Our FIRST DATE evolved into a marriage that has survived over three decades! Please, renew “First Dates.”
One of the best shows in a loonnnngggg time. Even for those of us that are married, it’s interesting to see how young people, divorcees operate in his world now. Looking forward to season 2!
PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!! My husband and I love watching this show!!! Come on Ellen, from one “Ellen” to another…BRING IT BACK!!!!!
I usually do not watch reality shows, but I find First Dates refreshing and humourous! Please bring back for a second season! I would really appreciate it!

I loved this show! Bring it bak
We loved the show! Please keep the show.
My husband and I really enjoyed this show! The dates seemed real and participants seemed genuinely interested or disinterested in their dates. Fingers cross for more participants and seasons to come.
Please renew this show for a season 2. My fiancé & I both LOVE this show. We aren’t big TV people so when we stumbled across First Dates definitely made sure we were home each week to watch it.
First show I’ve yet seen that seems to have REAL people in it. So are more obvious, dressing a certain way, etc., but otherwise real. I would very MUCH like it to continue, and not changed to use fake people looking for fame… 🙂
