TV show description:
A scripted anthology series, each season of Genius tells the “untold” stories about the most intelligent and inventive innovators in the world.
The first season of Genius centers on scientist Albert Einstein and is a TV show adaptation of the book, Einstein: His Life and Universe, by Walter Isaacson. Johnny Flynn plays Einstein in his younger days, with Geoffrey Rush assuming the role in the German-born physicist’s later years.
Genius, season one, explores how Einstein became a worldwide icon and developed the theory of relativity. The TV series features his incredible professional accomplishment. In addition, it delves into his passionate, complicated, and sometimes explosive private life.
Season one also introduces Einstein’s peers of the day, such as Marie Curie (Issová), Pierre Curie (Invernizzi), Carl Jung (Hallet), Max Planck (Brown), and Werner Heisenberg (Rubeck).
Genius kicks off when Einstein (Flynn), as a teen, defies is father and drops out of school in Germany, to attend university in Switzerland. Young Albert then disappoints first love, Marie Winteler (Tarbet), to woo physics student Mileva Marić (Colley).
When Mileva gets pregnant, the couple has to set aside their lofty aspirations. On the advice of his friend Michele Besso (Gabel), Albert takes a job a lowly patent clerk.
Still seeking scientific success, he manages to publish five papers in a single year. This accomplishment draws a lot of attention to Einstein, particularly from Dr. Philipp Lenard (McElhatton), who will become his professional rival.
As WWI approaches, Albert and Mileva’s marriage is falling apart. He eventually embarks upon an affair with Elsa Einstein Löwenthal, his first cousin, who would go on to become his second wife.
The first installment of Genius takes place amidst the global upheaval during World War I and World War II and will introduce the subject for the show’s second season. As anti-Semitism crests in Europe, and atomic weapons threaten the survival of mankind, the principled Einstein’s life is at risk, even as he struggles as a husband and a father.

What do you think? Do you like the Genius TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
This show is wonderfully acted, interesting and must not be cancelled. We don’t see acting of this quality often and its fans deserve a renewal.
Excellently written, directed and acted. I believe the Emmy Awards will recognize performances of Samantha C., Johnny Flynn and others. To see real history enacted is a wonderful plus on TV. Wish more people would watch and appreciate it. Very good learning experience and after each episode, I do a search Online to find out more about Einstein, Maria Curie and other information of the era when Einstein lived. Congratulations to National Geo for tackling this major project.
It is an amazing show. I truly hope it returns for a second season. It is intelligent, compelling, and wonderfully executed. For once, something besides PBS is offering great television. Keep ’em coming.
Hoping it is renewed.
This show has brought new insight into everything that I thought I knew about Einstein. also the mind set of America in regards to the Jewish Plight during the rise of Hitler. Can’t wait to see more.
When will Genius episode 7 and 8 rerun? You advertise 9pm on Tuesdays then change time and dates! I have missed both episodes!
This is the best tv show that I have seen in ages! The quality of everything related to the show (writing, costumes, actors, directing, etc) is mind boggling.
I love this show! It keeps me on the edge of my seat. It is very interesting to learn more about Albert Einstein. I can’t wait for the next episode to air. Great and brilliant show. I want MORE!!!!
This is a wonderful show. It is fascinating to know more about such talented and gifted people. Please continue it and bring us more like the Einstein story.
Looking forward to next season. Found it quite compelling.
Would love to see a series on Tesla….he was also a very interesting and brilliant man.
Strange how he aged 20-30 years in the 1st world war. Incredibly un-realistic. The beginning years was a great story and pretty much factual. What follows is kinda sad.
Excellent program. It is so interesting how people who are geniuses loose touch with peoples feelings. The Curies worked so well together. Albert and brilliant Mileva did not. Please continue the show so we can learn about other geniuses. Thank you.
Absolutely not. Please do not cancel this show. It encouraged me to read” The Other Einstein” by Marie Benedict. So good also. You and PBS do the best shows!!!!!
Finally a program with some real substance and the actors are the best. Please give us more of this addicting series.
My husband and I can’t wait for Tuesday evenings to travel back in time with the Einstein family! It truly feels like you’ve been transported to that era and we’re so tired when it’s over, but so overwhelmed with the acting of these talented people. Please don’t cancel something like this that is such a gem!
