Looks like CBS is unfriending God Friended Me. CBS just announced they’ve cancelled the TV show after two seasons, Deadline reports.
The series revolves around a thoughtful and outspoken podcaster named Miles (Brandon Micheal Hall) whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from a user named “God.” The cast also includes Violett Beane, Joe Morton, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie, and Erica Gimpel, with Adam Goldberg and Jessica Lu recurring.
The second season of God Friended Me is averaging a 0.67 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.24 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 25% in the demo by down by 20% in viewership. That’s quite a dip in the ratings for the CBS TV show
What do you think? Do you watch God Friended Me? Would you have watched season three?
Wow! I can’t believe this. With all the violence and hardship in the world, and all of the ‘trash’ on TV these days, why would a wholesome, uplifting show like God Friended Me’ be cancelled??? We loved the way the characters helped people, and how everything worked out for everyone at the end. This show was a shining light on TV amid all the darkness in the world. It is refreshing, and we looked forward to watching it every Sunday. Shame on you CBS.

It’s very sad that the network cancelled this show. It is one of the few intelligent, thoughtful and uplifting shows on broadcast TV. We have waited in anticipation for each new episode. I guess the 18 to whatever viewers are the only ones who count. Nice for them, but CBS leaves the rest of us feeling ignored. Makes me wonder about my CBS All-Access subscription. We would indeed have watched season 3 and 4, and as many as they could have produced. How about a renewal on All Access?
I absolutely agree with what you have said, Dion, and am re-thinking my CBS all-access subscription too.
Yes, I really liked God Friended Me. Yes, I would have watched Season 3. Next weeks 2 hr show better bring a good ending to everyone and everything. Don’t keep us hanging. That is very rude to your audience.
Inez–God Friended Me Not unusual for CBS to cancel a clean, worthy show, real people helping “people”. Had this been a CRIME DRAMA, MURDERS, THIEVES, ROBBERS, DELINQUENTS, then CBS would not cancel. I am very disappointed and very upset. Especially today, with the PANDEMIC, death and illness all around us, we need an excellent, humanistic show to take our minds off what we are experiencing today. CBS, shame on you, rethink your greedy decision for sponsors $$$.I sincerely hope you give your decision a second thought. I would have watched season 3, 4, 5, all the seasons your would have… Read more »
I am not happy that God Friended Me is being canceled. I love this show and would definitely have watched season 3, 4, eye.
one of my favorite shows. I always made a point to watch it. I am sad that that CBS decided to cancel it. I noticed especially lately it was always getting preempted.
This was one of the only good prime time series that I truly enjoyed. Great writing, story lines were realistic and relevant.
I pray CBS reconsiders canceling this show!
I really like God Friended Me, I look forward to watching it on Sunday evenings. Yes I would have watched Season 3 !!
I hope you finish off on Sunday evening with a good ending, Please Don’t Leave Us Hanging. That would not be nice . Shirley
I’m sad this show is being canceled! I’ve enjoyed every week & hope it ends well for everyone!
Please reconsider…awesome show, I hate to see it end!
This show is one of the best TV has to offer. My husband and I loved the great acting, story, message, writing.
This show was so tight, the highest standards met by all. CBS can you please rethink this. We are heartbroken.
Please renew!!!!
Very disappointed about this. Great cast and scripts. Hope you can reconsider. But will likely get another hour of violence. Ho-hum.
Or another reality show since they are so cheap to produce. Of maybe another ignorant bachelor/bachelorette show for that 18-49 group. The be all & end all of network honchos. Apparently they don’t understand or care that most of their viewers are in the +50 age group.
Will definitely miss the show. They better give us a complete closing of who is behind God account and hopefully a happy ending for Miles and Cara!
One of the only good shows on TV. CBS doesn’t know what’s good from bad.
