TV show description:
This dramatic series follows the fast rise (from age 26 to 34) of an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City — and the high personal and professional cost he pays to achieve it.
As Walter William Clark Jr. (Theo James) is interviewed for a story about his career, he looks back on his hard-fought journey from street kid to the most powerful man in law enforcement.
After only three years as a beat cop, Clark’s heroics on the job make him bold enough to ask for and receive the unheard-of promotion to homicide detective, angering the members of his new department who are eager to see him fail.
Clark is partnered with and mentored by experienced veteran Detective Don Owen (Chi McBride), a man just two years shy of retirement.
He would rather team with First Grade Detective Christian Arroyo (Kevin Alejandro), the alpha dog in the squad who’s just as ambitious as Clark — but without a moral center. Arroyo’s partner is Detective Deborah McKenzie (Bonnie Somerville), a tough third-generation cop and the only female detective in the unit.
Also on the team is Detective Joe Diaco (Holt McCallany), a well-connected officer with tremendous resources (which Clark might find useful). Though laser-focused on moving up the ladder, Clark’s soft spot is serving as the sole caregiver and supporter of his sister, Agnes (Stella Maeve) — a teenager demonstrating increasingly dangerous behavior.
Keenly observant and politically savvy, “Golden Boy” Clark bases his career decisions solely on his need to succeed as quickly as possible, and he’ll find that his epic journey will be filled with consequences.
Episode #13 — Next Question
Limited by his suspension and relegated to desk duty, Clark delves into Owen’s cold case in which the murder investigation of a construction worker, Jozef Dworaczyk, was compromised by the events of 9/11 happening simultaneously. Andrew Lightstone, Owen’s partner and mentor, was with him on the case and was called up to the North Towers leaving Owen to work the case on his own. That was the last time Owen saw Lightstone.
Clark notes the lack of shell casings and no reports of shots fired to speculate that a contract hit man could have been used. He and Owen confront the drug dealer whose crack house served as the crime scene about the similar way in which his rivals were killed, and the dealer reveals the name of the hit man he suspects had targeted him but mistook Dworaczyk for him instead.
When they track down the hit man, Owen coerces him to confess to fifteen murders including Dworaczyk’s and is rewarded with a promotion. Clark is perturbed when he discovers that three men were wrongly imprisoned for three of those murders and Commissioner Dowdell tells him to disregard his findings.
Lorraine kicks Arroyo out of the house after she discovers that he’s been cheating on her. Meanwhile, Clark’s father persuades Agnes to drive away with him and a volatile Deputy Mayor Holbrook confronts Clark and Margot with a gun.

What do you think? Do you like the Golden Boy TV series? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled and there won’t be a second season?
Please reconsider cancelling this show. It is truly an awesome show worth investing in. Love it and I’m so frustrated that you cancel the best shows and leave lame ones on. What a waste!
We want Golden Boy renewed! Hooked and will continue to learn the future Commissioner,
his partner and ‘collegues.
Honestly everytime a new show comes out that is outstanding it gets cancelled.. perhaps this network doesn’t take the proper time to advertise it, but this show was outstanding and had so many more stories to tell.. great acting, and a different twist on a cop show.. Bring it back, try again this will be sadly missed.. I also agree my time will now be focused on Netflix and what it has to offer.. why let the public get involved with the cast of new shows if you pull the plug on them before they can get off the ground..… Read more »
I thought golden boy was well written with interesting stories, what do they wxpect woth a mid season release, maybe USA will pick it up
Please do not cancel this show…great storyline, great actors….if this along with so many other good shows are cancelled network TV series will become a thing of the past! Why bother getting interested only to have it cancelled after one season!!!
I am not only sorry but PISSED!!!!!
This was a favorite new show. Characters and cases were interesting. Chi McBride is an excellent actor and deserves to be on a long-running show.
Please keep Golden Boy on.
I know it all comes down to ratings, but this was an excellent police drama and one of my favorites. The major networks are forcing me to do most of my viewing through Amazon and Netflix.
Chi McBride is one of my favorite actors. This is an outstanding show that appeals to all age groups. Why would you cancel such a well scripted and performed show?
This is one of my favorites…Please -please-please don’t take it off the air! The show shows the good, the bad and the ugly that goes on in this world. And not just on the streets but in the personal lives of those who are trying to protect us. There are no tougher than thou on the show..all are vulnerable to life. Very good show…So sad that you want to councel.
Please don’t cancel this show. It is the best police dective show on TV.
Loved this show! This show was the VERY BEST new show this season. The acting, story line, plot and character development were all fantastic. It is really a shame this show is canceled. We just planned our weeknights around making sure we got to see The Golden Boy. If anyone can stop the cancellation, please do!!! We promise to buy the advertised products just to keep the show on the air!!! 🙂
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW. I think this is the best police drama ever.
Can not imagine why you would not give a show like this more time.
This is one of the most interesting perspective on police and the detectives. They many times walk a thin between good and bad – and this show is an excellent perspective. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL THIS SHOW. Tuesday evening has been great with NCISs and Golden Boy.
