TV show description:
This dramatic series follows the fast rise (from age 26 to 34) of an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City — and the high personal and professional cost he pays to achieve it.
As Walter William Clark Jr. (Theo James) is interviewed for a story about his career, he looks back on his hard-fought journey from street kid to the most powerful man in law enforcement.
After only three years as a beat cop, Clark’s heroics on the job make him bold enough to ask for and receive the unheard-of promotion to homicide detective, angering the members of his new department who are eager to see him fail.
Clark is partnered with and mentored by experienced veteran Detective Don Owen (Chi McBride), a man just two years shy of retirement.
He would rather team with First Grade Detective Christian Arroyo (Kevin Alejandro), the alpha dog in the squad who’s just as ambitious as Clark — but without a moral center. Arroyo’s partner is Detective Deborah McKenzie (Bonnie Somerville), a tough third-generation cop and the only female detective in the unit.
Also on the team is Detective Joe Diaco (Holt McCallany), a well-connected officer with tremendous resources (which Clark might find useful). Though laser-focused on moving up the ladder, Clark’s soft spot is serving as the sole caregiver and supporter of his sister, Agnes (Stella Maeve) — a teenager demonstrating increasingly dangerous behavior.
Keenly observant and politically savvy, “Golden Boy” Clark bases his career decisions solely on his need to succeed as quickly as possible, and he’ll find that his epic journey will be filled with consequences.
Episode #13 — Next Question
Limited by his suspension and relegated to desk duty, Clark delves into Owen’s cold case in which the murder investigation of a construction worker, Jozef Dworaczyk, was compromised by the events of 9/11 happening simultaneously. Andrew Lightstone, Owen’s partner and mentor, was with him on the case and was called up to the North Towers leaving Owen to work the case on his own. That was the last time Owen saw Lightstone.
Clark notes the lack of shell casings and no reports of shots fired to speculate that a contract hit man could have been used. He and Owen confront the drug dealer whose crack house served as the crime scene about the similar way in which his rivals were killed, and the dealer reveals the name of the hit man he suspects had targeted him but mistook Dworaczyk for him instead.
When they track down the hit man, Owen coerces him to confess to fifteen murders including Dworaczyk’s and is rewarded with a promotion. Clark is perturbed when he discovers that three men were wrongly imprisoned for three of those murders and Commissioner Dowdell tells him to disregard his findings.
Lorraine kicks Arroyo out of the house after she discovers that he’s been cheating on her. Meanwhile, Clark’s father persuades Agnes to drive away with him and a volatile Deputy Mayor Holbrook confronts Clark and Margot with a gun.

What do you think? Do you like the Golden Boy TV series? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled and there won’t be a second season?
This is one of the few TV shows we actually look forward to watch every week! How sad that you cancell it after only one season! Hope you’ll change your mind!
Why the hell did you cancel this. Couldn’t be ratings? Everyone I talked to about it to, everyone loved the theme and the cast. Why the hell would you cancel something doing so well???????????????
Very Disappointed. Loved the show and the chemistry between Theo & Chi. Would watch again if picked up. One of the few shows my friends and I really enjoyed watching together. Difficult to understand why it was cancelled.
So disappointed that this show is cancelled! It had a different edge to it and great story lines! I agree with previous comments about the best shows getting cancelled. Wish they would bring this one back! Like the CSI shows, the best ones; Miami and NY were so good, but the original has never been as good to me aw those two. Seems CSI Vegas is more sadistic and gory, and of course, I guess that sells.
I was extremely disappointed when it was cancelled. I agree withabove comments, all the dumb shows stay on and the good ones are cancelled. I would tape it and watch the next day as it was on late for me. Just loved it.
Really, really stunned to see that this show was cancelled. We too will be happy to watch if another network would pick this up!
I am very disappointed that the show was cancelled! I was enjoying the storyline and anticipating what would happen next.
Bummed!
I am sorry the Golden Boy was cancelled. It was a favorite of mine.
Sorry to see this show cancelled – enjoyed it very much and was looking forward to its return this season.
Why in the world do these networks keep insisting on cancelling all the good shows? There are so few of them on. Also I agree with some of the other comments concerning the dumbest shows being left on the schedules. I really wish CBS would bring this show back on the air.
I am so sorry you all have decided to cancel the show. I have been watching and waiting for its return. Finding a interesting show to follow these days is very rare. This will leave all of your CBS viewers flipping to another network to find something to watch.
I am so sorry you guys cancelled the show. I would record it every week . Seems as though all the good shows get cancelled. and just as someone else said all the dumb shows stay on. I would love to see it come back on.
This so stupid how they cancel good shows with great actors and keep dump fake shows. Love Chi Mc bride, Theo James in story
I cannot believe that this show was cancelled! We felt it was one of the best, if not THE BEST, shows on your network. And, worst of all, you left all of us hanging — we deserved at least a finale, a 2-hour completion, to come full circle, on the powerful back-stories of each character as well as completion of the crime(s) they were working to solve.
sorry that you did not think about those of us that watched this show and have been looking for it to return only to find out that you canceled the show so as a avid CBS watcher I have decided not to watch on Tuesdays and Fridays when your best shows are on and have gotten the rest of my family to do the same sorry you wont be on anymore
