What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Gong Show is a wacky amateur talent competition, hosted by “British comedic legend Tommy Maitland” (Mike Myers). Celebrity judges include Will Arnett, Ken Jeong, Zach Galifianakis, Alison Brie, Andy Samberg, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, Dana Carvey, Will Forte, Jack Black, and Anthony Anderson.
Performers with unique talents face off in hopes of impressing a rotating panel of three celebrity judges. When a judge determines an act does not deserve a score, he or she can grab the mallet, strike the gong, and eliminate the contestant, as long as the other judges don’t prevent that from happening. When an act pleases the judges, they allow the performer(s) to complete it, at which time the judges award between 0 and 10 points. At the end of each episode, the performer or act with the highest score wins The Gong Show trophy and a check for $2,000.17.

Telly’s Take
While ABC has been having some ratings success with game show revivals, The Gong Show has been underperforming. While I want to think that ABC will renew it for a second season, the ratings lead me to believe that it will be cancelled. I want to add… the accent, the face, the laugh, and the dance — I can’t have enough of the host.
I just tried out the show. The host is comical and fantastic! I compared it to samples of the old show on YouTube. I found the old version immature, and wouldn’t have watched it. This is tenfold better! You need to give it more of a chance to succeed. (I nearly missed out on it. I had been watching either The Middle or AFV on my IPad, and fell asleep. I awoke to a zany man in a ***** hat doing a comical dance, which sparked my interest.)

Loved watching The Gong Show with Mike Meyers. Hope it is renewed and scheduled on a better day and time slot. It is very entertaining and fun.
The Gong Show is one of my wife and my favorite shows. It’s a fun breath of fresh air in the midst of so many gloomy shows.

Keep the Gong Show. Compared to the other garbage on ABC it’s fantastic. In fact you should replace Good morning America with the GONG SHOW.

I loved The Gong Show!!! Tommy aka Mike Myers made the show fun and entertaining to watch. Hopefully we can’t have a season 2!!!
Because of my job, I was able to watch the first episode in it’s entirety and loved it. I traded shifts and was disappointed when I tuned in and it wasn’t on. Please bring it back.

Im always looking forward to what comes next after that line. Please ABC bring it back. For the sake of fathers and sons everywhere. I call my dad the day after each episode and we talk and laugh. Please bring it back. I mean dont you think theres enough BS reality tv?

Gene S. I have made sure to watch the new 2017 GONG SHOW from episode 1. I loved the original classic w the late Chuck Barris and wanted to check out the new version. I used to always watch the original w my late parents. The new Tommy Maitland Gong Show is a bit different, but equally as good and it brings back fond memories.
