TV show description:
Based on characters from the Batman comic books, this dark crime drama tells the early stories of iconic characters, before they became legendary crimefighters, villains. and vigilantes.
Growing up in Gotham City’s surrounding suburbs, James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) romanticized the city as a glamorous and exciting metropolis where his late father once served as a successful district attorney. He’s two weeks into his new job as a Gotham City detective and he’s engaged to his beloved fiancée, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). Gordon is living his dream but hopes he can restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.
Brave, honest and earnest, the new detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). The two end up stumbling upon the city’s highest-profile case — the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne.
At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the crime’s sole survivor; the Waynes’ intense 12-year-old son, Bruce (David Mazouz). Gordon feels an inexplicable kinship to Bruce and, moved by the boy’s profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.
As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham’s criminal justice system, Gordon confronts imposing gang boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and mob kingpin Carmine Falcone (John Doman).
He also encounters unusual characters who will end up becoming some of the city’s most feared villains — future Catwoman, teenage Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova); The Penguin, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor); and The Riddler, Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith).
The story follows Gordon’s turbulent rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara). He goes head-to-head with major crimes unit detectives Renee Monyoya (Victoria Cartagena) and Crispus Allen (Andrew Stewart Jones).
It also focuses on the unlikely friendship that Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune. Bruce is being raised by his unflappable butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee). It’s a friendship that will last all of their lives and will play a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the famed cape crusader that he’s destined to be.
Episode #100 — The Beginning…
The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs.
First aired: April 25, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Gotham TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a sixth season?
Fantastic Show. This is the only tv series I have blocked time out of my life to watch since Dallas. My son and I watch it together and can’t wait till the next episode each week. The sets are stunning and love the no big name actors. Also love guessing who the next vilian will be. PLEASE KEEP IT ON TV! Many of my co-workers are now watching too!
Love the show
Great show
Love this show!!!
Great show!
Gotham is one of my favorite tv shows on Fox and television in 2015. My other favorite tv series will be Heroes:Reborn returning on NBC this Summer I believe. Some of the cast or most of them will not be returning and its sad. There is good news former Heroes actor, Milo Ventimiglia will be playing, a serial killer role in Gotham this year. My favorite Gotham stars are Ben MacKenzie, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett-Smith, David Mazouz, and Camren Biconovida. David M and Camren B are so cute together in the show. They make a cute romantic couple if they… Read more »
Love Gotham! The characters are fabulous!
This show is a boring snooze fest, if I wanted to see cops running around and no Batman I’d just watch CSI
You missing the basic concept of the show ~ In which case you are wasting your time ~
The kid Bruce Wayne is Batman in the making, you must not know the story behind Batman!
I truly enjoy this show. its done in good taste hope to see all the evolution of the batman as well as the vilians.
The show must go on
I love GOTHAM! Great writing and acting. I thought it was cancelled as it seems to have just started back with reruns. Did the season end?
Jack, GOTHAM is in no danger of being canceled. It is Fox’s #1 non-animated program.
For those who are worried about GOTHAM’s ratings:

Love Gotham. Can’t wait for it to come back. My favorite by far of the new shows. Right up there with Big Bang.
Excellent news ~ a truly enjoyable show ~
This is a truly good TV show. Please do not cancel.
GOTHAM is in no danger of being cancelled. It’s Fox’s highest rated show with actors (i.e., non-cartoon). It’s the 14th highest rated show so far this season in the 18-49 demo. We’ll be watching GOTHAM until Bruce becomes Batman is my guess.
I truly like the show and hope that it continues…..watching them all age is going to be awesome….The Penguin…The Riddler….and of course they have to bring on The Joker….in the Batman comics there seemed to be a greater age disparity between Batman and Gordon….PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL……
