Heartbeat has officially flat-lined. Variety reports NBC has cancelled the medical drama after one season.
The series centers on Dr. Alex Panttiere (Melissa George), a cardio-thoracic surgeon trying to juggle her personal and professional life. Dave Annable, Don Hany, Joshua Leonard, Jamie Kennedy, D.L. Hughley, Shelley Conn, Maya Erskine, and J. Louis Mills also star.
Nearing the end of its first season, Heartbeat has continued to fall in the ratings. The series began strong, receiving a 1.39 in the 18-49 demo and 6.304 million viewers for its March premiere. However, the show is currently averaging only .85 in the 18-49 demo, with 4.631 million viewers.
The season one, and now series, finale airs on May 25th.
What do you think? Do you watch Heartbeat? Do you think it should’ve been renewed?
Please renew this show
I think that this show really had a lot of “heart” to offer. I didn’t check what programming it was up against; however, the program itself, had a modern family at it’s best/not so best and working progress, interesting story lines involving the hospital patients, teaching the students in the hospital, and learning about the supporting staff of the hospital. It is a shame that this type of program cannot be adaptable to make it. Yet, crime programs fashioned off one another, hour after hour, modeling rape, torture, murder, and mutilation can be repeated hour after hour, year after year.… Read more »
Save Heartbeat! Most inventive, unpredictable, heart-warming, funny yet mostly serious drama I have seen since Grey’s Anatomy! Love the characters, plots, and mostly look forward to see what Alex Partiers will do next! NBC, bring it back or let it get it picked up by another channel!!!
I really liked it. Can’t believe they r cancelling it. Hope another network picks it up.
Any show that an Alphabet Networks start after May Sweeps is leftover from fall series that they know isn’t going to make it.
8 o’clock in May & I should be outside in my garden.
I had conjunctivitis & looked horrible with or w/o makeup & one of my brothers told me I’d like Heartbeat & I do, except 2 episodes.
Why do they always cancel the great shows?
It is better than Grays Anatomy which is boring and unrealistic. It is a good show much better than some others and needs a chance. If it is on DVD I wil buy it for archiving. If season two came out only on DVD I would buy it!.
Please reconsider! This is a quality show with fine actors and compelling story-telling.

You can’t cancel this great show its one of the best going….are you nuts. Must we begin. Really.
Don’t cancel. This is a great show. I love her quirkiness. This would be a grave mistake.
I love the show
HEARTBEAT is a fantastic and phenomenal show!!! Isn’t there anything the viewers can do? Can Netflix or HBO pick it up??? HEARTBEAT is quality programming, unlike the typical reality show crap the network keep pushing on viewers. If HEARTBEAT goes, so does my viewership! See ya NBC; I’m out!!!
I really like the TV Show and my chooses have always been winners. Maybe it was the time slot
Or what was on an opposing channel but this tv show was entertaining and my family agrees. I had suggested to family members to watch and all had the same reaction Great Show once they were exposed to it
I say don’ t cancel its a good show. Ya’ll are really bad about canceling the good shows & leaving the bad ones on.
I try not to get attached to new NBC series, I made mistake & loved Heartbeat. I don’t watch anything on NBC except a not so great Chicago Med.
Do not cancel this show. I look forward to watching it every week. The story lines are interesting and heartwarming.
