Well, there’s one dangerous situation that Christopher Chance can’t escape. FOX has cancelled Human Target after two seasons on the air. No season three.
Human Target follows a private bodyguard and security expert (Mark Valley) who protects his clients by integrating himself into their lives and becaomes a “human target.” He’s aided by his business partner, Winston (Chi McBride), and a tech genius named Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley). In the second season, a former client (Indira Varma) becomes his benefactor and an expert thief (Janet Montgomery) joins the team to seek redemption.
The series debuted back in January 2010 to a positive 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.12 million total viewers. Subsequent episodes had some solid numbers (thanks in large part to American Idol) but the latter part of the season really declined. The season finale brought in a mere 1.9 rating and season one averaged a 2.9 rating and 9.6 million viewers.
The show was on the bubble for renewal last May but FOX ultimately decided to give the series a second chance to get better ratings. That didn’t pan out.

Last November, season two of Human Target debuted to a week 1.8 rating in the demo and 6.59 million viewers. The network kept it on through the holidays, the ratings got worse, and by January it seemed like they’d given up on the series. The final episodes of the season performed a bit better but, again, thanks to being teamed American Idol. Season two averaged a 1.7 demo rating and 6.4 million viewers.
As one of the network’s lowest scripted series of the season, it seemed like just a matter of time before FOX would cancel Human Target. Last night, they officially did. Despite some devout fans, Human Target just wasn’t a winner in the ratings. After 25 episodes, the show is over.

Shame on fox for cancelling the series. The fact they did not advertise the series and kept moving the time slot did not help the show. Even the die hard fans had a hard time locating the time and night of the episode. Both factors made it hard for new fans to find the show let alone enjoy it. The show had everything, great acting, humor and action. Hopefully another network is smart enough to pick up the series.
I can’t believe they actually cancelled this show! With all the reality shows on (which is a bunch a garbage), this was one show that we sat down as a family to watch. Even our 18 year old daughter liked this show! The series provided just the right mixture of adventure with humor. The problem: it never had a regular time slot. Please, please bring Human Target back! No wonder the ratings were all over the place….no one knew when it was on!!!?? Human Target was a terrific show and if you bring it back on and make sure you give the proper time slot – you will have a hit FOX! I thought you were more in tune with your audiences? It appears you don’t – get with it and bring Human Target back? I am a loyal fan of FOX and Human Target….. Do the right thing Please!
First you moved Keen Eddie all over the place and canceled it because no one knew when it was going to be on, now this. I’ve had it with you guys.
I just hate it when a show as good as Human Target is cancelled. Who makes these decisions? I was looking forward to it. Please bring it back and put it in a better time frame. whats up with you people. dumb.
The problem was that they never gave it a home. It was on Wednesdays, then Fridays, then they’d skip a few weeks, then they show to episodes back to back. FOX entertainment is just as stupid as FOX News.

Damn, I’m going to give up TV altogether I guess. I watch very little and the shows I did enjoy all got axed; Human Target, V, and The Event. Of course the crime dramas and reality TV still lives on. I can’t stand reality TV or the crime dramas. They are all the same rehashed crap that has been going on for years now. Guess that doesn’t say much for society.
I totally know where you’re coming from and what you’re talking about ! There’s hardly a show that I like on TV, but… when I DO find something really good to watch like “Human Target” and “V”… well… you know. I’m also a big fan of the new (as well as old) “V” and was totally shocked to hear that it was also cancelled, too ! Human Target was the single best show on Fox last year – and the cast was jelling nicely, I believe a third season with a stable time and day would have been an excellent play by Fox. There were three programs we watched on Fox (of the four we watched regularly in total). Lie To Me – GONE. Human Target – GONE. House – still breathing. Human Target was one of my favoite shows.
Human Target was an awesome show! I think the reason for the poor ratings, was lack of advertising for the show and not have consistent back to back episodes. When you skip shows from week to week, it is hard to follow…. Please bring it back !

I agree with the others. It didn’t have a regular time-slot and we always had to scour the TV listings to find out when it was on. I loved it and so did my husband – please bring it back!!!

This show was the ONLY reason I turned on fox. Well, guess I won’t be watching fox anymore….not much of a loss
really enjoyed this show i dont understand why they are doing away with all the shows some people dont like watching reality tv shows it would be nice if some one else would pick up this show fox should of put on at a certain time and stop moving it around from night to night give us another (CHANCE) my husband and i enjoyed watching this show and breaking in not to many shows are out there that we can sit down and watch together that we both enjoy
